Participants in the training were employees of the Patrol Police Administration in Poltava Region of the Patrol Police Department, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Poltava Region, the Territorial Department of Court Security in Poltava Region, as well as scientific and pedagogical staff of Poltava Polytechnic.
This is another joint project implemented by employees of the psychological service of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Poltava Region, scientific and pedagogical workers of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy and the psychological service of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” within the framework of memorandums on cooperation with the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Poltava Region, the Ukrainian Association of Women in Law Enforcement, the Patrol Police Administration in Poltava Region of the Patrol Police Department. The event was initiated by the participants of the interdepartmental round table on the psychological rehabilitation of servicemen and victims of russian aggression, which was recently held at the Poltava Polytechnic. The adopted resolution provided for high-quality cooperation and the establishment of scientific and practical interaction between the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and the constituent organizations of the city of Poltava for the purpose of high-quality practical training of highly qualified specialists and the organisation of psychosocial support of the population.
According to the organisers of the event, in the conditions of difficult challenges and stressful situations, in which citizens constantly find themselves, regardless of social status, age and gender, it is extremely important to find internal resources and learn effective methods of self-recovery. Therefore, this format of teamwork allows for more efficient acquisition of practical skills and promotes more effective exchange of acquired experience.
The training program was opened with a welcome speech by the Rector of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, who noted the relevance of this topic and expressed his firm belief that the skills acquired during the training will be useful to the participants in their professional activities and will contribute to their faster emotional and psychological recovery.
“The ability to overcome life’s challenges is an art. To pass life’s tests without losing mental health is a superpower of Ukrainians. We work, study, develop the most diverse areas of our professional and personal life, sometimes not taking into account the factor of colossal psychological fatigue, exhaustion in the conditions of the war, which has been going on for more than half a thousand days and nights. Even the strongest people feel burnout and crazy stress in our complex present.
And what do professionals do in such cases? They learn to restore psychological stability, to be resourceful all the time and to set an example for others.
Having in its structure a powerful Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, a psychological service, a Gender Centre and a scientific and educational partnership with critically important services, in particular the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Poltava Region and the Patrol Police Administration in Poltava Region of the Patrol Police Department, Poltava Polytechnic supports conducting various professional events, especially regarding such relevant topics.
I am happy about the countless number of new projects aimed at solving social issues and the development of youth initiatives, which we are successfully implementing with such partners.
The training was devoted to an extremely important issue – survival in the conditions of war, dictated by time. Of course, it is necessary to know how to emotionally support yourself and people who urgently need it in these difficult conditions. Psychological self-recovery skills are very necessary for academic workers, because on the eve of the new academic year, after hard work during the admission campaign, it is necessary to prepare for the adaptation of freshmen in unfamiliar conditions and return to the high productivity of the educational process with senior students.
I am sincerely grateful to the organizers for choosing Poltava Polytechnic as a large-scale venue for holding such a high-level event. I am firmly convinced that this meeting will have a constructive continuation – personally, such events are always of particular interest to me. I always learn something new during them, which is necessary for further dynamic movement forward!
Take care of your psychological health!” – wished the Rector of the Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
The head of the psychological service of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Poltava region Yuliia Falieieva acted as a coach. The training program was full of interactive exercises and self-recovery techniques. We started with the psychodiagnostic exercise “Traffic Light”, with the help of which the participants differentiated the features of their own emotional and physical state according to the colours of the stickers – from green, yellow to red. The vast majority of participants preferred green and yellow colours, some chose intermediate colours – pink and orange. Using life examples, the participants analysed what resilience is – an innate dynamic property of the individual, which is the basis of the ability to overcome stress and difficult periods in a constructive way and why it is so important to develop it, and not to perceive it as an innate feature of acquaintances, friends, colleagues.
The exercises “Inner safe place”, “Safe”, “Light beam method” have been effective, training the skills to recharge with positive life energy. Those present openly talked about various life situations, held active discussions and relaxed. The participants worked in four dynamic groups, where they discussed the possibilities of self-recovery in stressful conditions and solved tasks, offered universal, in their opinion, methods of filling their own internal resources.
“I personally sincerely thank the rector of the Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko and the entire scientific and pedagogical team of the university, who are willing to meet any of our initiatives, for our fruitful cooperation, filled with opportunities for self-development and professional improvement. A series of joint events held on the basis of the Poltava Polytechnic prove our readiness to continue working for the post-war recovery of our country,” – commented coach, head of the psychological service of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Poltava Region Yuliia Falieieva.
At the end of the “Development of resilience in modern conditions” training, the participants exchanged positive impressions and talked about the acquired skills to restore their own internal resources in stressful situations.
“Working with student youth, I often encountered various manifestations of increased anxiety, symptoms of constant stress, in which, unfortunately, our entire country is now. Having attended the training as a participant, I felt the power of the acquired skills. I have mentally rested and rebooted.
Thank you for such invaluable experience, which we will definitely implement in our work with students, especially first-years, who will need to adapt to new conditions of study, living and leaving their usual comfort zone. I am sincerely grateful to Yuliia Falieieva, head of the psychological service of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Poltava Region, for the incredibly positive atmosphere, and to the participants for their openness and fruitful cooperation. I look forward to new professional events!” – commented the Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Philosophy Yevheniia Khomenko.
Recently, the university was visited by the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and training on cyber security took place on the basis of the Poltava Polytechnic.
Earlier, court guards and police officers conducted training on first aid and safety basics at the Polytechnic, as well as an interactive training with rescuers as part of the “16 Days Against Violence” campaign.
