University Adds New Services for Online Education

The education process at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has been switched to distance (online) form since the first day of the quarantine.

Teachers and students have even organized a flashmob in Facebook describing in their posts how they manage to work and study from home.

The online education system is based on the Moodle platform and has always been used to support the individual work of students of all education forms. As for today, more than 7,000 users are registered at the online education system of our university.

Resources such as lectures, videos on various subject are uploaded to the system, there is an option allowing to communicate with teachers by video calls, tests (which are online and limited in time) to control the studying process for every subject.

It’s possible to use the online education system of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” at any time, any place. The main thing is to have the Internet connection. You can even use a mobile phone.

To make it more convenient for students and teachers, the range of services and technologies of online education has been extended. Lectures, consultations etc are now held as video conferences in Zoom, the platform Google Classroom is used, social networks such as Facebook and Instagram, messengers such as Viber and Telegram, and e-mails are in active use.

The students of Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics and Management have studied the course “Tourism basics” in Google Classroom, and discussed the relevant topic “Tourism development under the influence of COVID-19 pandemics” using Zoom. Zoom is even used for consulting about the graduation theses. During Zoom conference it is easy to share information with screen demonstration.

The Speaking Club gathers for live-meetings - the Faculty of Humanities announces every new Zoom conference. One of the discussion topics was about future ways of education development: e-learning vs live teaching.

The Faculty of Sports offers exercise challenges, reminds of the correct working, resting and eating schedule.

The initiative of educational platform Coursera to create the project Coursera for Campus has become a great bonus. 500 students of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” will be granted free access to courses of the best universities worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to get additional quality education.

The students of oil and gas field also get a new important educational initiative; National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has become one of the four higher education institutions in Ukraine for which SPE Ukraine Professional Section has gathered 30 lecturers - professionals in their field, and organizes online lectures.

Quarantine is neither holidays nor a vacation, education process continues!
