University conducts a gender audit and is implementing the educational project “Profession by vocation, not by stereotype”

A meeting of the Rectorate was held at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, dedicated to the results of the psychological service activities during the year. Practical psychologist Yevheniia Khomenko reported on various areas of work, presented the results of the gender audit and outlined further plans.

On March 6, during the meeting of the Rectorate of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, the results of the university’s psychological service activities during 2022-2023 were considered. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the State Strategy for ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

The practical psychologist of the university Yevheniia Khomenko presented the results of all areas of work: psychodiagnostic (conducting tests with students and teachers), consultation (individual and group – with all participants of the educational process – on request), preventive (psychological prevention), corrective and restorative as well as developmental (lectures, trainings, educational hours), public relations, work with internally displaced persons living on campus.

“In a modern educational institution, the psychological service is an important link of the educational process, which ensures the effective interaction of all its participants: administration, scientific and pedagogical workers, students and stakeholders, creating comfortable psychological conditions that will contribute to the development of individual abilities of students and their personal growth.

The psychological and legal services of the university jointly implement the gender educational project “Profession by vocation, not by stereotype”. Within the framework of this project, a gender audit was performed, which related to the analysis of decision-making processes and the participation of women and men in them, statistical and administrative data characterizing the activities of the University, information support and coverage of the ensuring equal rights and opportunities principle, personnel policy and personnel composition, reasons for staff turnover, rates of remuneration and reward of employees, mechanisms for ensuring labour safety, benefits and guarantees for employees with children, maternity protection, the value system of the enterprise, institution, organization, internal mechanisms for ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men at the university.

As rector, I am proud to state that the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” is an environment of equality and opportunities for both men and women, as well as a comfortable environment for students. We have achieved a high level of security and there are no cases of bullying on the part of teachers,” – said the Rector of the university, Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

The psychological service of Poltava Polytechnic conducts active work on education and development among students and teaching staff of the university, participates in various training courses, projects and conferences.

Since the first days of the full-scale war, the psychological service of the university has taken care of forcibly displaced persons living on the territory of the campus of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. The university specialists carry out individual work, visit campus dormitories, as well as conduct conversations with IDPs, development classes with IDPs’ children, questionnaires to identify the need for psychological support, if necessary.

All current resources of the psychological service are presented in a separate section on the university’s website and are constantly updated.

“We will continue to conduct preventive work, which plays a large role in the activities of the psychological service, to conduct individual consultations, since students are concerned about interpersonal relationships with peers, problems of self-realization, feelings of anxiety, family relationships, self-esteem, determination of life priorities, value orientations.

Thank you for establishing a psychological climate in all structural subdivisions of the university,” – commented practical psychologist of the university Yevheniia Khomenko.

In September 2022, Poltava Polytechnic held a meeting of undergraduate students with the representative of the Poltava Local Centre for the Provision of Free Secondary Legal Aid Yurii Nochovnyi, during which the participants discussed means of domestic violence in wartime prevention.

As part of the All-Ukrainian campaign “16 days against violence” in December 2022, an interactive training “Stay safe” was held on the basis of the Poltava Polytechnic, the participants of which were employees of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Poltava region together with university students. The participants learned how to stop violence in time, effectively organize their own space of tolerance and restore the lost psychological resources of victims of violence.

In February 2023, within the framework of the memorandums of cooperation with the Territorial Department of the Court Security Service in the Poltava Region and the Department of the Patrol Police, training on pre-medical assistance and safety basics was held on the basis of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
