In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine the scholarships are awarded to a few sportsmen from Poltava region, they are Oleksii Virchenko (the bronze champion of the World Cup of 2019 in swimming, 7 thousand hryvnias), Ivan Mai (the World Champion of ping-pong in 2019, 12 thousand hryvnias), Vladyslav Yaloveha (the World Champion of bowling in 2019, 12 thousand hryvnias), Yaloveha Heorhii (the Trainer of the World Champion of bowling in 2019, 12 thousand hryvnias).
The graduate of the Faculty of Sports of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Ivan Mai is the Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in ping-pong (by the decree No. 3453 of 16.08.2017) and the member of the Paralympic team of Ukraine in ping-pong to participate in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020.
“I remember the beginning of his sport career, when he was a talented firs-year student very well. From the first game to the systematic training. A very shy, but perspective young man had grown to a champion while studying at our university, and graduated as the Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class, a member of Paralympic team of Ukraine in ping-pong. The champion has won a lot of all-Ukrainian and international festivals over the last five years, including the World Championship in Slovakia in 2017, the World Championship in Slovenia in 2019, Europe Championship in Denmark 2015, Europe Championship in Slovenia 2015, Europe Championship in Sweden 2019, HUNGARIAN OPEN NFDLE TENNIS (Hungary, 2015), BAYRETH OPEN (Germany, 2015 and 2017), LIGNANO MASTER OPEN (Italy, 2015, 2016 and 2017), PALMA SLOVENIA OPEN (Slovenia, 2016 and 2017), ALSO SLOVAKIA OPEN (Slovakia, 2015 and 2017).
