On June, 9, the meeting headed by the Head of the RSA Oleh Syniehubov was held, during which the organization and the process of EIE in the region were discussed.

This year, the EIE will be held in extraordinary conditions for the first time. The participants of the exam will have to wear masks, pass the temperature screening and use hand sanitizer. This was especially emphasized by the Head of the Department of Health of Poltava RSA Viktor Lysak.

In Poltava Region, the school leavers will take part in mock tests on June 15 and 17. And from June, 25 to July, 17, 13081 future students will take External Independent Evaluation.

“It is incredibly important for us to ensure decent EIE conditions in Poltava region, in particular test centers function, including all the lockdown measures. Besides, we have to prepare a certain procedure of changing the testing centers. Now we have positive dynamics of the number of people with Coronavirus. We will take all the necessary measures to keep the statistics improving in the future. But we have to be ready in case some district faces the illness breakout. We have to foresee it. Our children have been studying in special conditions for the last months. They finished their education online for the first time in the history of independent Ukraine,” Oleh Syniehubov said. He stressed that the problem of EIE is under special control of the President of Ukraine.

The EIE regulations remain unchanged if compared with last years. However, the procedure of the exam, taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic, has new requirements. Poltava region created a regional center on the problems of holding and organizing the EIE. The main thing to be ensured at the exams is safety. The transportation of children to the testing centers should also be organized, as the Head of the Department of Education and Science of Poltava RSA Vita Kovalska mentioned.

The region has 8 divisions for holding the EIE, they are Poltava, Kremenchuk, Hadiach, Lubny, Myrhorod, Karlivka, Kobeliaky, Pyriatyn. 68 testing centers are prepared, 57 main centers for passing EIE-2020, and 11 additional centers for the mock exam. To prevent spreading COVID-19, the testing centers are supplied with masks, hand sanitizers and non-contact thermometers. National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” passed protective faceshields made by university scientists to all the EIE-2020 centers in Poltava region.

“The initiative was made by Oleksandr Sydorenko while signing the protocol of the agreement on holding the External Independent Evaluation. We responded to make our contribution to protecting the health of all the EIE participants. University has been practicing such charity activity for a few months already; we began with Poltava Regional Infectious Disease Hospital, Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after M. V. Sklifosovkyi. While continuing such an action, we are pleased to pass the faceshields from our higher education institution, two for each worker, 136 protective faceshields in total, the use of which will ensure following all the sanitary and health regulations,” the Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko commented.

The Head of Kharkiv Regional Center of Education Quality Evaluation Oleksandr Sydorenko said, who will be provided with the protective means first of all, “I want to thank Volodymyr Onyshchenko for the initiative and help. It was very important to provide protective masks to those people who would be controlling the school leavers at the entrances, the people on duty and their helping personnel. So we protected all the personnel involved in the procedure.”

National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” started producing the protective faceshields in April 2020, and successfully realized a social project for medical workers. The authors of the idea and the design developers of the faceshield are the academic staff of the Department of Architecture and Town Planning, Associate Professor Kostiantyn Trehubov and Assistant Professor Andrii Koniuk.

“It is hard to overestimate the importance of the health of all the EIE participants. At the same time, we are proud of our university having a special role in this year’s EIE organization. This shows the potential and power of university, so we welcome our future students,” Rector summarized.
