On October 4, the grand opening of the Veterans Development Center took place on the basis of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". The new location was solemnly opened by Poltava Polytechnic Rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Tetiana Kalyta.
The Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine continues to expand the regional network of veteran development centers. To implement the Government's priority action plan for 2023, the Ministry is carrying out a project to create veteran development centers. The activity of such centers is an important component of the process of formulating and implementing state policy in the field of professional adaptation of employment, increasing the labor market capacity of war veterans, their family members and families of fallen soldiers.
"Let me express my sincere gratitude on behalf of the thousands of Poltava Polytechnic staff for the trust you have shown today by opening the Center for Veterans' Development at the university. It is a great honor for us to join such a powerful state program.
I would like to note that the main goal of veteran development centers is, first of all, professional integration and reintegration into civilian life of discharged from military service among war veterans, as well as their families.
The main task of the center is to assist veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in social, psychological and legal adaptation, training, retraining and advanced training of veterans of the Armed Forces in civilian specialties under various short-term programs and specialties that are in demand in the labor market. From the very first day, the Center starts its active work – on October 14, a meeting with journalist and defender Pavlo Kazarin will take place.
By joint efforts, we are bringing our Victory closer. We believe in the Armed Forces! Glory to Ukraine!" – said the Rector of the University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
Thanks to the powerful educational and scientific as well as material and technical capabilities available at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" at the Center for Veteran Development of the Poltava Polytechnic, military veterans and their relatives will be able to undergo professional training and retraining in seven unique areas, namely: Oil and Gas Engineering, Construction and Civil Engineering, Philology, Therapy and Rehabilitation, Law, Law and Financial Literacy, as well as Military Training (for those who wish to obtain a military specialty).
"We now face a very big challenge – the formation and implementation of effective methods and practices aimed at adapting war veterans to civilian life. So, in fact, today we have gathered for an important moment.
It is worth noting that this program is the development of Ukrainian methods. This is not a translation, not an adaptation, but our own work with the experience that, unfortunately, Ukraine has today. The experience of the events of 2014 is also partially used here, but taking into account the scope and consequences of today.
We do everything possible and impossible in order to popularize and form services for veterans, to promote a culture of acceptance of both the military and veterans in society. This is our everyday life, and it is a matter of practice, implementation of this direction in every community, in every region.
How to get certain services, how to create an opportunity, how to adapt, how to reintegrate, how to really feel like a member of the community, society? Together we can do everything, the main thing is to unite and move forward together and solve problems," – noted Tetiana Kalyta.
"It is very pleasing that we are opening such a space precisely on the basis of the Poltava Polytechnic. An extremely powerful university, which is known throughout Ukraine for its specialists, teachers and rector, which continues to do a great job. The university, which organized a volunteer headquarters from the first days of the war, helps the Armed Forces and does everything possible to bring our Victory closer.
I believe that it is here, on the basis of the university, that the veteran space will work powerfully and will cope with all tasks at the highest level," – emphasized People's Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of the university Oleksii Ustenko.
The Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Oleksii Bruslyk, thanked Tetiana Kalyta and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for supporting such initiatives in the Poltava region, and rector of the Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko, for the implementation of the project.
"The Center for Veteran Development is not just an office where we are now. This is a powerful infrastructure that will work for the benefit of the interests of society, the state, and veterans.
When we were discussing where exactly to open these centers, one of the two chosen institutions was the Poltava Polytechnic, because when the Polytechnic undertakes a task, it is a guarantee of achieving results. We are convinced of this and will work together in this direction.
It is a great pleasure that we are opening this location today, but there is a lot of work ahead. It is nice to see our soldiers here, because without your participation and feedback, this center will not work and will not achieve its goals," – said Oleksii Bruslyk.
The Deputy Chairman of the Poltava Regional Council, Oleksandr Lemeshko, conveyed the greetings from the entire deputy corps.
People's Deputy of Ukraine Kostiantyn Kasai also gave a congratulatory speech, drawing attention to the specifics of the new center, the wide possibilities of the Poltava Polytechnic and thanked the defenders for the courageous performance of their patriotic duty.
The state-of-the-art material and technical base of the Poltava Polytechnic will make it possible to meet all the urgent needs of veterans, a wide range of services and opportunities are available, and the experience of our defenders will be extremely valuable for the cadets of the military training department of the university.
Poltava Polytechnic recently congratulated the graduates of the Department of Military Training.
