"Women's Battalion-2021": Polytechnic students demonstrated high achievements in four disciplines

On December 11, students of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" took part in the annual regional military-patriotic project "Women's Battalion". The girls worked jointly on the locations, demonstrated high achievements in four disciplines and became the best in firing from a lying position and from a kneeling position.

On December 11, the regional military-patriotic project "Women's Battalion-2021" took place on the basis of the assault troops in the village of Terentiyivka (Poltava region). More than 100 female representatives of higher education institutions, public youth organizations and amalgamated territorial communities of Poltava region aged 14 to 35 took part in it. During the day, 9 teams were practicing tactics, mastered tactical medicine and underwent military training. Within the framework of the project, classes were also conducted on tactics of airborne assault troops, the basics of survival in the winter, individual training of shooters, airborne training, tactical medicine, fire training.

According to the Head of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Poltava Regional State Administration Maryna Trokhymenko, such events actively promote the development of national and patriotic education in the Poltava region.

"Recently, "Zagrava" was held, where men tested their skills, and in order to adhere to gender equality, we decided to revive the "Women's Battalion", where girls can also compete in tactical training and knowledge. The acquired knowledge, abilities and practical skills will certainly be useful to them during the various educational and training tests," – said the Head of the Department of Youth and Sports of Poltava Regional State Administration.

"The project was founded in 2014 and aims to show military specialties for womanhood. Participants will get acquainted with the specifics of military professions, namely assault troops, their weapons, day-to-day life, rules and security measures. Teams receive raid missions: according to legend, the unit lands, receives equipment in cargo containers, goes on a recce along the route and practices tactical actions during the neutralization of the enemy," – explained the Head of the Poltava Regional Children NGO "Military Sports Center "Warrior" Oleh Barysh.

The organizers of the event equipped 8 training locations with tasks in the areas of "Unit actions during the raid", "Tactics of airborne assault units", "Fundamentals of survival in winter", "Individual training of the shooter", "Tactical medicine" and "Airborne training". The girls also practiced boarding techniques for the MI-8 aircraft, exercised on the parachutist's obstacle strip, and trained their ankles.

The National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was represented by the largest team of 16 girls. Partakers diligently prepared for competitions of this level in advance and demonstrated high achievements in four disciplines:

  • «Unit actions during the raid»;

  • «Action tactics of airborne assault troops»;

  • «Tactical Medicine»;

  • «Airborne training».

For high performance in firing from a lying position and from a kneeling position individual awards were given to:

  • 1st place – a student of Poltava Polytechnic Valeriia Ivanova and Diana Reva;
  • 2nd place – a student of Poltava Polytechnic Mariia Zaitseva;
  • 3rd place – a student of Poltava Polytechnic Yuliia Korniienko.

The winners were declared in more than twenty nominations. All participants received diplomas, certificates and memorable prizes from the project organizers.

Recently, students of Poltava Polytechnic won the World Thai Boxing Championship.
