Main Department of physical culture and sports

 

The Department of Physical Culture and Sports was created on September 2, 2019, simultaneously with the opening of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports at Yuriy Kondratyuk Poltava National Technical University. September 20, 2019, which coincides with the International Day of Student Sports, is officially considered the opening day of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports.

Historically, the department of physical culture and sports originates from the department of physical education, founded in 1937, and as a graduate school that trains specialists in physical culture and sports - from the department of physical education, sports and human health (2012).

 The department of physical culture and sports is a graduate school - it trains students of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education in the specialty 017 "Physical culture and sports". Currently, 469 students are studying here, among them  312 are at the bachelor's level and 157 are at the master's level.

Vision

The Department of Physical Culture and Sports is one of the leaders in the field of training physical culture and sports specialists, promoting a healthy lifestyle and developing student sports, which determines and  keeps up the standards of the quality of training of these specialists according to the actual requirements, taking into account the labor market situation and modern trends of ofphysical culture and sports development.

The department's mission is to train socially responsible, highly qualified and competitive specialists in the field of physical culture and sports  according to  the needs of the labor market in the conditions of European integration by using innovative approaches to education.

Strategic orientations of the department

  1. Expansion of educational opportunities. The department is constantly working on updating the educational programs "Physical culture and sports" for students of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education, modernizing academic course working program  of academic subjects  and their syllabi in accordance with the modern development of physical culture and sports. The department developed, approved and accredited the educational and professional program "Physical culture and sport" for the training of specialists of the second (master's) level of higher education in specialty 017 "Physical culture and sport".

The demand for physical culture and sports specialists on the national labor market, whose preparation is carried out by the department, the relevance of the specialty 017 "Physical culture and sports" among applicants, students and stakeholders-employers, is evidenced by the results of the enrollement campaigns in recent years. The number of students involved as a result of enrollement campaigns for four years for the first (bachelor) level of higher education in specialty 017 "Physical culture and sport" is constantly increasing. The entire license volume (40 people) for the second (master's) level of higher education in specialty 017 "Physical culture and sport" is steadily filled every year.

It is planned to open an extra-mural form of study in specialty 017 "Physical culture and sport" for applicants of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education.

  1. Increasing the scientific potential of the department.

 The teachers of the department provide  scientific activities, implementing academic mobility; support scientific cooperation with leading domestic and foreign scientific and educational institutions; take an active part in international, all-Ukrainian and regional scientific and scientific-practical conferences, scientific-methodical seminars; organize and conduct on the basis of the Poltava Polytechnic the annual All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference with international participation "Actual problems of physical culture, sports and physical education" and the Regional scientific and methodical seminar "Formation of a healthy lifestyle of  pupils and student youth by means of physical culture and sports". An indicator of the effectiveness of the department scientific activity is the publishing activity of teaching staff and students. In particular, in recent years, the number of publications in professional publications, not only domestic, but also foreign, has increased, including scientific publications in scientific and metric databases, such as Scopus and Web of Science.

The department annually holds the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference with international participation "Actual problems of physical culture, sports and physical education", the participants of which are famous domestic scientists, colleagues from Poland, Lithuania, France, America, Israel, China. Based on the results of the conferences, a collection of conference materials is printed. Since 2017, the department has launched a collection of scientific works "Humanities Herald of Yuriy Kondratyuk National University" (http://hb.nupp.edu.ua/ISSN 2708-9908 Print, ISSN 2708-9916 Online), in which both teachers and and students publish their works. Taking into account the achievements and realizing the prospects of the department's development, it is planned for the next 5 years:

  • to continue an active participation in scientific and scientific-practical events of various levels with the publication of report materials;
  •  active work of the teachers to attract external funding for research projects;
  • publication of scientific articles together with students;
  • academic advising of students in writing research papers;
  • publication of the  scientific research results by the department teachers in publications included in the recognized scientific metric databases such as Scopus, WebofScience;
  • admission of  the department teachers from among young scientists to an employer-sponsored  postgraduate course in a professional specialty;
  • preparation for the defense of at least 1 doctoral and 1 candidate (Doctor of Philosophy) theses by department employees;
  • ensuring the constant improvement of teachers' qualifications, including  participation in international projects.
  1. Expansion and preservation of international cooperation of the department.

One of the department's achievements is the establishment of effective cooperation with educational institutions in Poland, Belarus, Lithuania and other European countries. As a result of such cooperation, the teachers of the department publish сooperative scientific articles with foreign partners, collective monographs, take an active part in international scientific and practical conferences abroad every year, involve European partners in the co-organization of various scientific events in Ukraine. Student exchange is also actively taking place (students undergo externship in sports clubs and volleyball teams abroad, etc.) and exchange of experience among teachers also take place.. Taking into account the achievements of previous years and realizing the prospects of the department's developmentin that process, the following tasks have been defined for the next 5 years:

  • preservation and expansion of cooperation with foreign institutions of higher education within the framework of the university's current cooperation agreements;
  • involvement of new foreign partners in international cooperation;
  • foreign internship of scientific and pedagogical workers for a period of at least 3 months;
  •  obtaining B2 level certificates of foreign language proficiency by teachers;
  • organization and running international scientific and practical conferences in Ukraine and abroad, where the department will act as an organizer/co-organizer;
  •  development of international academic mobility.

5.Provision of dual education

About human resourcing of the department

The department includes 19 scientific and pedagogical workers, including 2 doctors of pedagogical sciences, professors (L.M. Rybalko, T.S. Plachynda), 4 candidates of pedagogical sciences (associate professor O.A. Permyakov, associate professor L.M. Onishchuk , R.V Zhalii., professor Rymar M.P., including 1 professor and 2 associate professors); 2 candidates of sciences in physical education and sports (associate professor T.O. Synytsia, associate professor A.V. Geta); 4 senior teachers (A.V. Ostapov, T.V. Yopa, O.V. Vorobyov, T.Yu. Gulko), 3 Honored coaches of Ukraine (O.E. Kamerylov, Yu.I. Shaviro, P.Ya Mandya .), 2 teachers (A.V. Chermenskyi, O.V. Kosyak) 3 assistants (M.V. Kravchenko, E.V. Karavan, A.O. Kovalenko). In particular, the department employs: 14 full-time employees, 2 internal part-time employees and 3 external part-time employees (employer stakeholders).

Among the scientific and pedagogical employees of the department: 1 Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine (head of the department L.M. Onishchuk), 1 Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine (Professor Rymar M.P.), 1 Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine (Associate Professor Kamerylov O.E .), 2 judges of the national category - senior teacher Vorobyov O.V. and senior teacher Mandya P.Ya.).

Sports titles of Ukraine have:

Tetyana Oleksandrivna Synytsia– Master of Sports of Ukraine in cheerleading;

 Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Kosiak - Master of Sports of Ukraine in karate;

Oleh Yehorovych Kamerylov – Master of Sports of Ukraine in kayaking and canoeing;

Anastasia Oleksandrivna Kovalenko – Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in sports billiards;

Yuriy Ivanovich Shaviro– Taekwondo Master of Sports of Ukraine ( World Taekwondo);

Andriy Vyacheslavovich Chermensky – Master of Sports of Ukraine in table tennis; Andrian Vasyliovych Ostapov– candidate for master of sports of Ukraine in volleyball;

 Tetyana Volodymyrivna Yopa - candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine in judo; Oleksandr Anatolievich Permyakov – candidate for Master of Sports in chess;

Ruslan Vasyliovych Zhalii - candidate for Master of Sports of Ukraine in athletics. From the moment of creation of the department of physical culture and sports until 2021, it was headed by Lina Mykolaivna Rybalko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor, from 2021 the head of the department is Larisa Mykolaivna Onishchuk, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate professor.
