The University of Mannheim (Universität Mannheim) is one of Germany’s leading research universities and an internationally recognised leader in economics, business informatics, social sciences, and management, consistently ranking among the top institutions in international academic rankings.
The university’s main campus is housed within the monumental Mannheim Baroque Palace (Mannheimer Schloss) – one of Europe’s largest palace complexes, providing a distinctive historical atmosphere alongside state-of-the-art educational infrastructure. The city of Mannheim is the vibrant centre of a European economic powerhouse – the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region, home to the corporate headquarters of leading global technological and industrial corporations.
Mobility for our students is coordinated in close cooperation with the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics (WIM). The School is renowned for its high-impact research in artificial intelligence, data science, systems analysis, machine learning, business analytics, and financial mathematics. Through practice-oriented instruction and an interdisciplinary approach, students can integrate technical and mathematical expertise into real-world, European-scale business processes.
What Does Semester Mobility Offer to Students?
Studying at the University of Mannheim with Erasmus+ grant support guarantees:
• international recognition and high academic standards: the opportunity to study in English or German under world-class faculty and researchers;
• flexibility of educational pathways: access to advanced modules in business informatics, applied mathematics, computer science, as well as university-wide electives;
• a unique opportunity for undergraduate students: the host school’s (WIM) regulations permit bachelor’s students (subject to meeting relevant prerequisites) to enrol in graduate-level courses;
• development of soft and hard skills: teamwork in international groups, project-based learning, fostering critical thinking, leadership, and intercultural communication;
• career advancement: acquisition of ECTS credits and subsequent inclusion in the European Diploma Supplement, substantially enhancing graduates' competitiveness in the global labour market.
Key Programme Conditions
- Mobility period: Spring semester of the 2026/2027 academic year (Frühjahrs-/Sommersemester – FSS 2027; lecture and examination period: February – June 2027).
- Number of grant places: 2.
- Application deadline at Poltava Polytechnic: 7 October 2026.
- Target audience: Bachelor’s and Master’s students of:
- Educational and Scientific Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics;
- Educational and Scientific Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law (degree programmes related to economic cybernetics, analytics, digital economy, and management).
- Financial support: Erasmus+ monthly individual support stipend and a travel grant to cover travel costs (total funding of EUR 5,500 per semester), fully covering expenses for accommodation, insurance, meals, and local transport.
Candidate Requirements
High Grade Point Average (GPA) and no academic arrears;
Proficiency in English or German at a minimum level of B2 (according to the CEFR framework).
Foreign language proficiency assessment: a formal language examination in English/German (written and oral components) will be administered to all registered applicants:

Important Academic Regulations for Course Selection
Primary study load: exchange students must earn the majority of their ECTS credits from courses offered by the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics.
Elective modules: students may additionally select 1–2 courses from the university-wide electives offered by other schools.
Study levels: bachelor’s students may take selected graduate-level courses, provided they meet the prerequisites.
Course registration: for most lectures, advance registration is not required (attending the first lecture is sufficient); however, seminars and Team Projects require prior registration via the university platform Portal² or in accordance with the instructor’s requirements.
Accommodation in Mannheim: a limited quota of dormitory rooms is reserved for exchange students (notably, the comfortable residential complexes on Hafenstraße in the Jungbusch district and Studentensiedlung Ludwig Frank / Ulmenweg). Rooms are fully furnished and equipped with high-speed internet access.
Application specifics: submit housing applications strictly within the specified deadlines via the Studierendenwerk Mannheim Housing Portal online form. The housing situation in the spring semester is significantly less constrained than in the autumn.
Private market: the university and student services also provide comprehensive advisory support and access to a free, verified database of private accommodation and shared student flats (WG – Wohngemeinschaft).

Procedure for Participating in the Erasmus+ Credit Academic Mobility Competition
Step 1. Application to the Graduating Department
The student contacts their graduating department to request consideration for participation in the credit mobility programme.
The department compares the student’s Ukrainian degree programme curriculum with the courses offered by the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics at the University of Mannheim for the spring semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
If the list and content of courses align, the department prepares two official internal memoranda (in accordance with the established list of mobility documents) and submits a request to the Institute Directorate to issue an academic transcript of records.
Students for whom the department has not prepared the two official memoranda and the Directorate has not issued the transcript of records (i.e., applicants without written confirmation of the feasibility of learning outcome recognition/credit transfer) will not be admitted to the language proficiency test.
Step 2. Preparation of the Personal Application Dossier
The applicant compiles the document package:
- 2 official internal memoranda from the graduating department;
- Academic transcript of records (grade extract for the entire study period);
- Scanned copy of the international passport (first photo spread, .pdf format);
- European-standard curriculum vitae (Europass CV in English or German with an up-to-date photo, up to 2 pages, .pdf format);
- Motivation letter in English or German (up to 1 page, .pdf format);
- Passport-sized photograph (.jpeg);
- Language certificate confirming B2/C1 level (if available).
Please note: motivation letters are subject to mandatory screening for academic plagiarism and unauthorised AI generation. Submitting identical motivation letters to different selection calls is strictly prohibited.
Step 3. Submission of Documents
Submit the application package simultaneously in electronic and printed form through the graduating department to the International Relations Office of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” (Office 213-C).
