At the invitation of the administration as well as scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Drilling and Geology of the Poltava Polytechnic, the speaker held a conversation with students and shared the story of his own professional growth.
“We continue to strengthen the synergistic effect of the close interaction of education, science and business, which is interested in highly qualified specialists and is ready to invest in their practical knowledge and experience, with real actions. We are sincerely glad that, even in these difficult conditions, we can hold such motivational meetings, lectures with successful managers, professionals in the oil and gas sector, encouraging future specialists not to stop in their own development.
In my firm belief, Poltava Polytechnic youth should continue to be inspired by the examples of successful leaders, top managers, practitioners, whose vast experience is connected with the discovery and development of oil and gas deposits, effective management of production and service companies of various levels.
We sincerely thank dear Myron Andriiovych for supporting our initiatives and willingness to share his own experience with youth! We highly appreciate the joint efforts made by the university and the company to ensure quality higher education and further employment of graduates. We hope to continue our fruitful cooperation in the future, since Polytechnic has a number of successful cases of effective cooperation with business, and our graduates are successfully accomplished, using the knowledge acquired in the university classrooms, in leading Ukrainian and international companies,” – commented the rector of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko. The head of the Poltava Polytechnic called on young students to more actively take part in the dialogue with professionals.
According to Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Drilling and Geology of the university Yurii Vynnykov, events with the participation of stakeholders, useful practical cases from professionals in their field, and the practical orientation of scientific and educational events organized by the university with the participation of top managers of the oil and gas business will once again demonstrate to modern student youth and graduates of oil and gas specialties opportunities as well as prospects on the labor market.
The topic of the open lecture is due to the modern challenges of the needs in the extraction of hydrocarbons and the growing interest of students in acquiring managerial skills in the oil and gas sector. Communication with students and scientists consisted of several meaningful blocks: “History of the oil and gas industry”, “Methodology for searching for oil and gas fields”, “Main stages of resource assessment”, “Investment policy of oil and gas business brands”, “Inventory management strategies”, “Effective management of an oil and gas production company”.
According to Director of Geology at JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya Myron Firman, the success of the entire oil and gas company lies in the volume of oil and gas production. The practicing specialist emphasized that it is impossible to imagine any oil and gas production company without investments. This factor is the second component of its success. Thirdly, there are no unnecessary professions in this field, but it does not forgive mistakes, so the speaker focused on the key moments of the production process, without which it is impossible to imagine the efficient hydrocarbons extraction. And one more important observation – the more you work for success, the more real it is.
Summing up his speech, the speaker singled out 5 components of a successful company – the value of the company is estimated by the subsoil, therefore, in parallel with the production, it is worth thinking about the volume of reserves of 5-10%; investments lend to successful production; the company must comply with applicable legislation; coordinated teamwork is necessary for the final result.
“In order to become successful, it is necessary to work a lot and strive to develop. Of course, you don't become successful managers of large, powerful companies right from the start, but it’s worth starting your own professional path with the firm belief that you are able to do anything,” – noted Myron Firman.
At the end of the practical lecture, the speaker actively talked with the students in the “question-answer” format. The audience was interested in the questions of where to start one’s own professional path, the prospects of successful production of new and old oil and gas deposits. And the scientists of the university received information about the prospects of mining compacted carbonates, the scientific topic of which is being developed at the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies of the Poltava Polytechnic.
“We thank our partners for useful practical cases, active exchange of ideas and willingness to share experience with future professionals in the oil and gas sector,” – concluded Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Drilling and Geology Yurii Vynnykov.
