Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Director of Poltava Oil and Gas College Liubov Shumska, representatives of DTEK Oil and Gas, academic staff of Education and Research Institute of Oil and Gas (ERIOG), in particular the teachers of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology Department of our university, took part in the round table “Approving the directions of cooperation between DTEK Oil and Gas and National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic””.
Despite the lockdown, the round table gathered a large number of oil and gas professionals ready to share their own views on extending the cooperation between DTEK Oil and Gas and one of the leading oil and gas higher education institution of Ukraine. In total, more than 60 participants, including teachers, scientists and students of oil and gas specializations of our university and college were present at the event. The participants of the round table worked in two thematic sections: “The direction of scientific and technical cooperation” and “The directions of cooperation in education”.
The participants were greeted by Director General of DTEK Oil and Gas Ihor Shchurov, Deputy Head of Poltava Oblast State Administration Yevhenii Hrekov, Director for Production and Refining of Hydrocarbons of DTEK Oil and Gas Oleksii Raptanov, Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and Director of Poltava Oil and Gas College of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Liubov Shumska.
“The priorities of education policy at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” include the high quality of education services, and one of the main instruments of its provision is the cooperation with business partners.
I hope that the constructive dialog with stakeholders will help us determine new ways for cooperation and partnership, and we will come up with new opportunities for exchanging experience, technological and scientific achievements. I wish that you have fruitful discussions and interesting presentations!” Rector of our university, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko said.
“It is great that Poltava Polytechnic became the center of implementing positive changes in oil and gas education. Our priorities include energy security of our country, economical use of nature resources and the development of the oil and gas complex of Poltava region that is in the top-3 regions of hydrocarbons production having a developed infrastructure and good transportation system. We see the results of our cooperation in the synchronization of government bodies’ work and the scientific activity directions at the leading university of Poltava region,” Deputy Head of Poltava Oblast State Administration Yevhen Hrekov commented.
According to Director General of DTEK Oil and Gas Ihor Shchurov, the fact that our university is ready to cooperate with the leading oil and gas and service companies, such as DTEK Oil and Gas, contributes to high-quality preparation of oil and gas specialists in Poltava oblast and Ukraine in general, “The industry tendencies are changing, so we all have to be ready to face and respond to modern challenges. Our company is a long-term partner of territorial communities in Poltava region, where we do our production activity, performing the main mission of realizing good intentions in the education and scientific field and contributing to dynamic development of Poltava region.”
The company is planning to hold a large-scale international technological conference at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” next year, during which the achievements in the realization of science, education and science conversation will be presented by the leading oil and gas companies of Ukraine.
The achievements of the company and the successful cases in hydrocarbon production stimulation and in ecological safety were shared by Director for Production and Refining of Hydrocarbons at DTEK Oil and Gas Oleksii Raptanov. It’s important to mention that DTEK Oil and Gas has been helping the hospitals of Poltava and the district with personal protection means during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rector of Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko delivered a report titled “The cooperation of National University ‘Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic’” in the section “The direction of scientific and technical cooperation”. He presented the priorities of scientific and educational cooperation with business representatives and one of the leading innovative centers of Poltava oblast.
“The long-term strategic cooperation of our university and DTEK Oil and Gas covers various aspects. Within the Memorandum on Cooperation in Science and Technology signed in 2016, Polytechnic received an up-to-date scientific and educational muds laboratory that is efficiently used in the education process, scientific research and during the further education courses. In 2018, a laboratory of specialized information systems and technologies was opened at Poltava Oil and Gas College created with the support of DTEK Oil and Gas. The classes in such a modern laboratory allow for the development of professional competences and give the possibility to structure and visualize the contents of the courses for learning them more effectively,” Volodymyr Onyshchenko commented.
Within the round table, informative reports about DTEK Oil and Gas’s activities and development in the oil and gas field and the university’s suggestions for business within the cooperation in science and technology were presented by Maksym Dorokhov (“The stystem of strategic development of DTEK Oil and Gas (technological challenges for the company; TechnoHub DTEK project; scientific and technical works project for the company”), PhD, Associate Professor, Deputy Head of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology Department of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Maksym Kharchenko (“The results of cooperation in science and technology with DTEK Oil and Gas. Programs of university’s scientific and technical activity in oil and gas”), Director of Education and Production Center of Poltava Polytechnic Petro Holub (“Suggestions of university for business within the scientific and technical cooperation”).
Another important field for cooperation is the realization of dual education, thanks to which students can improve their theoretical knowledge with practical skills while still studying at university. Liubov Shumska, Director of Poltava Oil and Gas College of National University Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” spoke about successful cases of implementing the pilot project titled “Dual Education” into the education activity at university and college: “It is especially important that prospective stakeholders can join the development of the project regulations. As of today, five graduates of Polytechnic are working at the company, and that became a ground for the university to offer improvements of dual education organization.” Holding regular online seminars became a new approach to professional training of future oil and gas specialists. It allows to share knowledge quickly and even distantly during the lockdown.
In conclusion, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and DTEK Oil and Gas approved the Program of Complex Cooperation for 2021-2025 during the round table discussion.
