On 13 August, 2024, Dean of Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Anna Aheicheva, scientists of the Department of General Linguistics and Foreign Languages of Poltava Polytechnic – Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Svitlana Halaur and Senior Teacher Alla Sereda joined the “English4Ukraine” online information session for the universities participating in the Twinning.
It should be noted that the Twinning programme is a model of cooperation between universities aimed at supporting universities in Ukraine during and after the war by creating meaningful partnerships between Ukrainian and foreign higher education institutions. The initiative is coordinated by Cormack Consultancy Group with the support of Universities UK International, the Presidential Foundation for Education, Science and Sport and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The main goal of the Twinning is to preserve the integrity of the Ukrainian higher education system, prevent the outflow of the scientific elite and help Ukrainian universities overcome the crisis with additional resources, skills and strong international experience.
The introductory meeting was attended by over 170 representatives of educational institutions. At the beginning of the event, the Director of the Twinning Initiative in Ukraine, Oleksandr Smirnov emphasised the importance of the project for the personal development of university communities and the development of the country’s educational and scientific sector. According to the organisers and participants, learning English in Ukraine is particularly relevant in the context of European integration and the recently adopted language law.
“Starting from the new academic year, students and teachers of Poltava Polytechnic will have the opportunity to learn English for free on the innovative platform “English4Ukraine”. We are sincerely grateful to the Rector of our university, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, for the opportunity to learn English with the use of innovative technologies. Let’s learn English with a smile,” – commented the Head of Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Anna Aheicheva.
The joint project “English4Ukraine” of the British-Ukrainian initiative will help teachers and students learn English conveniently and free of charge on the Reallyenglish platform to have even more opportunities for cooperation with foreign partners.
It should be recalled that recently, the Head of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy took part in the presentation of the “English4Ukraine” platform project as part of the Twinning educational initiative.
Earlier, a delegation of Poltava Polytechnic took part in the conference “UK-Ukraine Second International Twinning Conference 2024: The Role of Universities in the Post-War Recovery of Ukraine”.
