General Information

For Students

Period and duration of study: academic mobility involves studying during the full I (Fall) or II (Spring) semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.

Financial support: participants receive a monthly scholarship of 900 euros. For students with a confirmed disability status, additional support (top-up) of 250 euros per month is provided. Travel expenses are reimbursed at 309 euros (standard option) or 417 euros when using ecological means of transport (train/bus – green travel).

Housing: please note that BOKU University does not provide on-campus housing. After official nomination, students independently arrange their accommodation in Vienna, either through student residences or the private rental market.

Language requirements are strict:

Master’s: English at a level no lower than B2.

Bachelor’s: German at a level no lower than B2, which a German B2 certificate must confirm.

Candidates must carefully develop their individual study plans. The list of subjects can be accessed via this link. Students should review the descriptions of educational programs to get a general idea of the courses offered, and to cross-check them against the BOKUOnline system.

When selecting subjects, student candidates must ensure that the respective courses are indeed taught in the semester of the planned visit; that the students themselves meet the entry requirements of the specific course; for Masters – that the course is taught in English rather than German (enrollment in a course taught in German is only allowed if the student has a confirmed German language proficiency level of at least B2).

Important: Bachelor’s level mobility studies are only possible with a German B2 certificate. If German proficiency is absent, the student may apply exclusively for an internship (minimum 2 months). The internship program must be coordinated with the graduating department and the university’s Department of Quality Assurance of Higher Education.

Insurance: BOKU University arranges accident and civil liability insurance after official enrollment in the mobility program.

For Postgraduate Students (PhD students)

Mobility involves staying in Vienna for up to two months during the I (Fall) or II (Spring) semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. Participants will receive a monthly scholarship of 900 euros, as well as additional support (top-up of 250 euros/month) for individuals with disabilities. Travel compensation is fixed: 309 euros (standard travel) or 417 euros (for ecological travel – train/bus).

Language of instruction: English (minimum B2).

Postgraduate students have the right to conduct their dissertation research under the academic mobility program. Before submitting documents, the postgraduate student should coordinate the visit program and research plan with both their supervisor at Poltava Polytechnic and the corresponding scientific mentors at BOKU University.

Housing: BOKU University does not provide dormitories for participants. Postgraduate students must independently organise their accommodation in Vienna (via student residences or the private market) immediately after receiving the official nomination.

Selection criteria include:

  •  Requirements of the partner institution for potential participants (specifically: professional specialisation, ability to work with relevant software, knowledge of professional techniques and equipment, language proficiency, academic performance, as well as requirements regarding age, gender, and inclusivity).
  •  Consistency of the mobility program with the scientific interests and topic of the applicant’s dissertation research, confirmed by a certificate signed by the scientific supervisor.
  •  Grade point average (GPA), determined based on the academic transcript issued by the University’s Department of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies.
  •  Language proficiency level based on testing results, confirmed by a certificate signed by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology, and Pedagogy.

Procedure for Participation (for Students)

Step 1. Consultation with the Graduating Department

• The student contacts their graduating department to request consideration for participation in the program.

• The department compares the curricula of the Ukrainian educational program with the corresponding program at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU).

If the disciplines are aligned, the department prepares two internal memos (according to the list of mobility documents) and notifies the Institute’s directorate of the need to issue an academic transcript (grade certificate).

Without the department’s internal memos and the directorate’s transcript, students will not be admitted to the English language testing.

Step 2. Preparation of Personal Documents

The student prepares the following documents:

• CV in English (PDF format with a photo, maximum 2 pages);

• Motivation letter in English (up to 1 page, PDF);

• Scan of the international passport (1st page spread, PDF);

• Passport-style photo (.jpg);

• English language proficiency certificate (if available).

Motivation letters are checked for plagiarism and AI use. It is not allowed to submit the same letter to multiple mobility programs.

Documents not prepared in accordance with the requirements will not be accepted.

Step 3. Submission of Documents

The document package is submitted simultaneously in electronic and printed form to the International Relations Department (Room 213-C) by the graduating department.
