For a significant contribution to providing comprehensive assistance to Ukrainians and Poltava residents who needed physical protection on the territory of the Poltava community during the period of martial law introduced by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 64/2022 of February 24, for active citizenship and volunteerism, the head of the Poltava community Oleksandr Mamai awarded rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko with a personal Citation of the City Mayor with the badge as well as presented the Citations of City Mayor to the entire team of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.

“Volodymyr Oleksandrovych invests all his vigor, all his time, sometimes sleepless nights and his whole soul into the university. The university staff preserves and develops the scientific and educational potential of the town and the community, which is very important not only for our youth, but also for the development of the town,” – noted Oleksandr Mamai.

“Temporary shelter in Poltava is a feeling of safety and comfort. We thank the Poltava City Council for their attention and sensitivity to our needs. The conditions created on the basis of the Poltava Polytechnic for us are almost as a family atmosphere. We are inspired to rebuild our own lives. Ukrainians are strong-willed, Poltava residents are incredibly hospitable. We will all rebuild the ruins together and bring happiness back to our homes. On behalf of my compatriots, on behalf of the families who found themselves in trouble, I want to thank the administration of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, personally the rector Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Onyshchenko and the director of the campus Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Shovkoplias, and express gratitude to the university staff for their help, care, and creation of proper living conditions, round-the-clock psychological support, free food, shelter, generosity, sensitivity and solutions to our problems,” – congratulated the university community Tetiana Rud, an employee of the Kharkiv Literary Museum, a resident of the village of Pisochky in the Kharkiv region, for whom, in these difficult times for all of us, Poltava has become home.

Recently, the volunteer headquarters of the university received humanitarian aid from Polish friends and partners – Poznań University of Technology. After the celebrations, the volunteers distributed the prepared kits to the residents of the campus in need from among the forced migrants.

“It is very nice that the mission of supporting the victims, as well as the preservation of the town’s scientific and educational potential, is noticed in our community, and I thank the mayor Oleksandr Mamai for his support, for the personal distinction and awarding of the University staff.

I thank the activists of internally displaced persons who also decided to recognize the university staff and campus director Oleksandr Shovkoplias for the created conditions and thanked them for their support.

Today, Ukraine is defended by many scientists, students, culture and art workers.

National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” is a worthy inheritor of the high ideas of humanism of our university patron.

Thus, since the very first days of the war, a volunteer headquarters has been working at the University. Our student volunteers constantly provide humanitarian aid to residents of regions affected by occupation and military actions, have repeatedly collected funds for the purchase of military equipment, university employees have transferred their one-day earnings in the amount of almost 300,000 hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Funds were repeatedly collected for the purchase of military equipment, and the last charity event, which was held at the Polytechnic in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, collected UAH 101,000. More than half a thousand internally displaced persons live in the university dorms, for whom free lunches are prepared in the canteen.

Tetiana Valeriivna said very touching words, and we will continue to support everyone who has now found shelter in the Poltava community, in particular in our university.

I am proud of our students who volunteer, serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and bring Victory closer in every possible way.

I am proud of our team!

We believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we work for Victory!

Everything will be Ukraine!

Glory to Ukraine!” – thanked Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

Earlier, Yurii Kondratiuk’s anniversary was solemnly celebrated at Poltava Polytechnic, and six students of Poltava Polytechnic were awarded scholarships named after Yurii Kondratiuk.

It should be recalled that physical therapists and rehabilitation students are helping war victims to recover, university employees donated part of their salaries to the needs of Ukrainian defenders, a center for issuing individual food kits for IDPs was opened on the basis of the College of Oil and Gas, and students collected funds for a thermal imager for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one evening.
