On February 20, within the framework of the Memorandum on scientific and educational cooperation and partnership between the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and the Ukrainian Research Institute for Natural Gases, a large-scale scientific and educational event was held on the basis of the Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas for bachelor’s students and master's students of specialties 185 "Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies", 184 "Mining", 103 "Earth Sciences". The motivational meeting was held by the director of the branch "Ukrainian Research Institute for Natural Gases" (UkrNDIgaz) of JSC "UkrGasVydobuvannya" Mykhailo Bratakh.
UkrNDIgaz is a center of scientific and technical competence that provides scientific, design and regulatory documentation for the full cycle of production activities of JSC "UkrGasVydobuvannya": analysis, substantiation and preparation of materials for obtaining special permits for new territories; design of search and reconnaissance works; well drilling design; design of the development and arrangement of deposits; design and optimization of hydrocarbon collection, treatment and transportation systems; connection of production facilities to the network of main gas pipelines.
According to the institute’s projects, all the company’s hydrocarbon deposits are developed.
The scientific and technical products of UkrNDIgaz ensure effective exploitation of gas deposits, including at the late stage of development, reliable and uninterrupted operation of the Company's industrial and inter-industrial gas pipeline system, raw material preparation and processing facilities, etc.
The structure of the Institute includes 31 scientific departments, 12 laboratories with high-tech equipment and measuring devices, and a design unit. The structural subdivisions of UkrNDIgaz are concentrated in the main gas regions of Ukraine, in particular in Poltava.
A professional in the oil and gas sector began his career in the industry precisely at UkrNDIgaz as an engineer in the gas transportation department, later he gained experience as a university teacher and now he has reached the position of top manager of the largest company in Ukraine. The speaker shared with the students his own professional background, noting the huge potential of today’s graduates, and talked about the unique opportunities opened up by the company.
“After joining the SPE community, I had access to the best knowledge in the industry and in the international community. These are not only purely technical skills, but also design and organization information. Thanks to this I am not afraid to take responsibility for big projects and implement changes, as the presence of international experience allows you to avoid many mistakes and choose the best solutions that are suitable for us.
After the SPE congress, we launched the DEEP Platform, where lectures were held by top Ukrainian and international industry professionals.
In the 4 years since I got to know the SPE community, I have made my way from the head of the department at the Company's AU and the head of the ground infrastructure department to the director of UkrNDIgaz. And I do aim not to stop, but to bring a lot of new things to the activities of the institute.
After all, it is this company that develops the future and most ambitious projects of our company, where the value of international experience is paramount," – said Mykhailo Bratakh.
He called for actively joining SPE, using the DEEP Platform and invited to start a career by testing yourself in the selection and becoming a participant in the internship program.
"Everything planned is possible if you want it yourself. We are ready to give you the opportunity to realize your most ambitious plans and professional prospects by implementing internship programs like the dual education projects launched nine months ago. In fact, we have put away a long time ago the idea of a research institute, being a center that solves issues from geological exploration to ground infrastructure.
With the relocation of the head office of UkrNDIgaz from Kharkiv to Ivano-Frankivsk, we have opened several promising areas – these are alternative energy sources, secondary energy resources and energy management. Our team is currently looking for a specialist for a preliminary internship for three months. The focus of our attention is the so-called "field research". We invite you to join the competition and send your resume, because we are open to cooperation and test internship programs with student youth in order to recruit competent personnel and successfully employ graduates.
Of course, at first it is better to develop a career in the city where you live or received your education. Over time, you will be ready to change cities, focusing on professional implementation and acquired skills. The participant of the internship program will receive a curator – the head of a certain department and an officially established salary. Initially, its amount will be a stipend, and after the successful completion of the internship and employment in the company, the salary will be approximately 16-20 thousand hryvnias, as well as a powerful social package. In its activities, the company adheres to gender equality, taking into account the purely professional competencies of its employees.
"If you want to put the acquired knowledge to the test, combining studies with an internship, we will be waiting for your resumes. We have another proposal, which may be of greater interest to girls. To work in the office, we are hiring 9 students for internships, who will be engaged in the digitization of oil and gas well schemes. You will visit the fields several times and conduct a full range of research so that you have some idea of what the company does.
Upon completion of the internship, we analyze the work of the interns, decide who of them really deserves employment and introduction to the staff of our company. Currently, out of 15 students who completed the internship, 5 students passed our selection, we are still arranging for three. Therefore, try yourself, believe in your own strength and improve yourself!" – emphasized Mykhailo Bratakh.
Students and teachers of the Poltava Polytechnic were interested in personal development, conditions for the development of professional competencies acquired on the basis of one of the largest oil and gas companies.
