IT students are selected for the selection for the International Programming Skills Contest ICPC Contest

The first stage of the All-Ukrainian Programming Skills Contest took place at Poltava Polytechnic. The university team under the leadership of the senior lecturer of the Department of Computer and Information Technologies and Systems Maksym Demydenko was selected for the International Programming Skills Contest ICPC Contest.

On September 18, the first (face-to-face) stage of the All-Ukrainian Programming Skills Contest took place on the basis of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". Intellectual competitions became a selection stage of the 46th Annual World Finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest in order to find gifted youth, positive motivation to learn, encourage creative work of future professionals and improve the quality of preparation of IT professionals. The event was held taking into account all the necessary anti-epidemiological and quarantine restrictions caused by the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19, in compliance with social distance and the use of personal respiratory protection, antiseptics for hand treatment.

In total, 16 teams from four universities and two general secondary education institutions took part in the programming skills contest.

Participants from Poltava universities:

  • team "NUPP_BrainDamage" of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic";
  • team "cPPC_Polytechnic_3" of the Poltava Polytechnic Vocational College of the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute";
  • team "PSAU-" 404" of the Poltava State Agrarian Academy;
  • team "cPPC_Polytechnic_1" of the Poltava Polytechnic Vocational College;
  • team "PNPU_SZPS" of the Poltava VG Korolenko National Pedagogical University;
  • team "PNPU_HMPS" of the Poltava VG Korolenko National Pedagogical University;
  • team "cPPC_Polytechnic_2" of the Poltava Polytechnic Vocational College;
  • team "PSAU-126IST2021" of the Poltava State Agrarian Academy;
  • team "cPPC_Polytechnic_4" of the Poltava Polytechnic Vocational College.

The division of general secondary education institutions was represented by:

  • Poltava regional scientific boarding lyceum of II-III degrees at Kremenchuk A.S. Makarenko Pedagogical College (Skills Contest for this institution was held on the basis of the Kremenchuk A.S. Makarenko Pedagogical College);
  • Poltava Lyceum No 1.

National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was represented by a team of students of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics under the guidance of Maksym Demydenko, a senior lecturer of the Department of Computer and Information Technologies and Systems.

"We already have considerable experience in conducting programming skills contests and other types of intellectual competitions on the basis of our university. IT students are willing to participate and demonstrate an exceptional level of practical use of knowledge gained during their studies.

Twelve tasks had certain time constraints, which motivated our participants to become more active in teamwork. Most modern programming languages ​​were available to implement the tasks. Most teams successfully coped with them," – commented Maksym Demydenko, a mentor of the student team of Poltava Polytechnic.

In the team standings, the National University National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" team took second place among sixteen student teams of the Poltava region.

The three leaders were:

  • team "cPPC_Polytechnic_3" of the Poltava Polytechnic Vocational College (1st place);
  • team "NUPP_BrainDamage" of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" (2nd place);
  • team "PSAU-" 404" of the Poltava State Agrarian Academy (3rd place).

The practical skills of the participants allow the team of Poltava Polytechnic to compete in creating the best algorithms and have a larger volume of possible programming languages to use their peculiarities in certain conditions and in performing tasks.

It should be recalled that last year the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" entered the TOP-50 in the ranking of the most popular Ukrainian higher education institutions for IT specialty entrants according to DUO.
