On the basis of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” students have successfully completed a professional internship for undergraduates majoring in “029 Information, Library and Archival Affairs”. Future specialists under the guidance of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation, Professor Iryna Perederii and Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Liudmila Cherednyk mastered the basic pedagogical techniques, honed their teaching skills and learned to work with students.
It is worth noting that this is the first time such a practice for master’s students in this area of practical training is conducted. Teachers of the department implemented the proposals of previous years’ graduates, who are professionally accomplished in institutions of higher as well as professional higher education, and introduced practice as a necessary component of educational activities of masters in the new edition of the educational program for “029 Information, Library and Archival Affairs” specialty.
As a result of the internship, lecturers are completely satisfied with the first pedagogical steps of undergraduates, and those receiving higher education have discovered another option for possible employment. According to scientists of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation, the gained practical experience is difficult to overestimate, as the modern education system needs young energetic, creative lecturers.
“Of course, today’s masters will have to work hard on their pedagogical skills, the ability to keep the audience’s attention, master the latest pedagogical techniques, learn to manage their own psychological state, develop a style and manner of teaching. All this comes with years of experience. Congratulations to our undergraduates on their successful pedagogical debut!” – commented the Head of Practice, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation of Poltava Polytechnic Liudmyla Cherednyk.
In general, scientific and pedagogical practice plays a significant role in the process of practical training of specialists in the specialty “029 Information, Library and Archival Affairs”, in the process of passing it the knowledge of higher school pedagogy is deepened, practical skills to develop scientific and methodological analysis of work programs of certain academic disciplines are developed and consolidated, skills of drawing up lesson plans are honed. Master’s students learn to conduct various types of classroom classes, apply the latest interactive teaching methods, evaluate the results of their own activities and improve the communicative components of teaching.
“It is important for a master’s student to have a general idea of the methodology of pedagogical activity and scientific creativity, to gain experience in organizing their work, in using methods of scientific knowledge and applying logical laws and rules. The integration of general and professional education on the basis of pedagogical activities significantly increases the motivation to acquire knowledge and the formation of relevant competencies, becomes a powerful incentive to update the content of education in general. I am sincerely happy for the first serious successes of our students; they have everything ahead of them!” – emphasized Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation, Professor Iryna Perederii.
