Serhii Shkarlet thanked the Minister for the support already provided to children, students, academic staff and scientists of Ukraine who were forced to evacuate abroad due to the brutal aggression of the Russian Federation. He also thanked for the support of Ukraine in making the decision of the EU Council of Ministers.
The Minister noted that currently there are 1,500 temporarily displaced children and students in Slovenia, and that the Slovenian Government is providing them with comprehensive assistance. The Law on Temporarily Displaced Persons has also been adopted, which aims to fully support all children and students, as well as education workers.
At the same time, Ms. Kustec said that the Slovenian Research Agency has prepared all the necessary documents in order to involve Ukrainian scientists in the work and provide them with support, including financial one.
The Minister also noted that relations with the Russian Federation have already been terminated and all agreements in the field of education, science and sports have been ceased.
"We sincerely thank Slovenia and the entire Slovenian people for their unwavering support and assistance to Ukrainian citizens. We appreciate the manifestation of unity with Ukraine on the inadmissibility of the current actions of the aggressor country. I believe that constructive cooperation in the field of education and science for the benefit of world peace will continue and expand between our countries," – stressed Serhii Shkarlet.
It should be recalled that the heads of the Ministries of Education and Science of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in a joint appeal offered students from Ukraine the opportunity to continue their education at all educational levels.
