NMT-2023: content and structure of the history of Ukraine block

The content of tasks of the block of the national multi-subject test (NMT) on the history of Ukraine will correspond to the current ZNO program on the history of Ukraine. The test tasks will refer to the historical period “History of Ukraine (second half of the XVI – beginning of the XXI century)”. You can get from 0 to 54 points for the tasks of the NMT block on the history of Ukraine.

NMT-2023: content and structure of the history of Ukraine block

In 2023, entrants to higher education institutions will take the national multi-subject test (NMT) for the second time, which will be conducted in computer format. This test will contain three blocks of tasks: from the Ukrainian language, from mathematics and one subject of choice (history of Ukraine, biology, chemistry, physics, foreign (English, German, French, Spanish at the choice of the participant) language).

The content of the tasks of the NMT block on the history of Ukraine will correspond to the current program of the external examination on the history of Ukraine. The test tasks will refer to the historical period “History of Ukraine (second half of the XVI – beginning of the XXI century)”. Tasks will be devoted to the following topics:

  • Ukrainian lands as part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the second half of the XVI century;
  • Ukrainian lands as part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the first half of the XVII century;
  • The national liberation war of the Ukrainian people in the middle of the XVII century;
  • Cossack Ukraine at the end of the 50s – 80s of the XVII century;
  • Ukrainian lands at the end of the XVII – in the first half of the XVIII century;
  • Ukrainian lands in the second half of the XVIII century;
  • Ukrainian lands as part of the Russian Empire at the end of the XVIII – in the first half of the XIX century;
  • Ukrainian lands as part of the Austrian Empire at the end of the XVIII – in the first half of the XIX century;
  • Ukrainian culture of the late XVIII – first half of the XIX centuries;
  • Ukrainian lands within the Russian Empire in the second half of the XIX century;
  • Ukrainian lands as part of Austria-Hungary in the second half of the XIX century;
  • Culture of Ukraine in the second half of the XIX – at the beginning of the XX century;
  • Ukrainian lands as part of the Russian Empire in 1900–1914;
  • Ukrainian lands as part of Austria-Hungary in 1900–1914;
  • Ukraine during the First World War;
  • The beginning of the Ukrainian revolution;
  • Development of the Ukrainian revolution. Struggle for restoration of statehood;
  • Establishment of a communist totalitarian regime in Ukraine;
  • The establishment of the Bolshevik totalitarian regime in Ukraine;
  • Western Ukrainian lands in the interwar period;
  • Ukraine during the Second World War;
  • Ukraine in the first post-war years;
  • Ukraine in the conditions of de-Stalinization;
  • Ukraine in the period of the exacerbation of the Soviet system crisis;
  • Restoration of Ukraine’s independence;
  • Formation of Ukraine as an independent state;
  • Establishment of a new Ukraine.

There will be a total of 30 tasks in the block of the national multi-subject test (NMT) on the history of Ukraine, including:

  • 20 tasks with choosing one correct answer from four options;
  • 4 matching tasks (you need to set 4 “logical pairs” in each);
  • 3 tasks to establish the sequence (you need to correctly specify the sequence of the proposed events);
  • 3 tasks with a choice of 3 answers from 7 suggested options.

The task on the history of Ukraine will be evaluated according to the scoring scheme used in the ZNO. That is, 1 test point will be awarded for each correct answer in the single-choice task, 1 test point for each correctly defined logical pair in matching tasks, from 0 to 3 points for each correctly defined sequence and 1 point for each correctly indicated answer option out of three possible when choosing from 7 proposed options.

So, you can get from 0 to 54 points for completing the tasks of the NMT block on the history of Ukraine.

You will know your result (that is, the number of points scored for correctly completed tasks) after completing the NMT blocks. Later, the result of each block will also be converted into a scale of 100-200 points. In order to obtain a positive test result on a scale of 100–200 points, the applicant will need to score at least 6 test points.

In order to prepare effectively, it is definitely worth continuing to work carefully on the school curriculum on the history of Ukraine, attending online or offline lessons conducted by your teachers, or lessons of the All-Ukrainian School online. And for independent training, it is appropriate to use:

  • school textbooks, test preparation manuals;
  • ZNO-online tests on the history of Ukraine for past years;
  • tasks on the history of Ukraine, grouped by certain topics that correspond to the topics provided by the program;
  • comments-explanations to tests on the history of Ukraine of past years, provided by leading specialists in test preparation;
  • portraits of historical figures, mandatory on the history test;
