Poltava Polytechnic and Karazin University sign an agreement on cooperation under martial law

National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, recognizing the need for immediate and effective response to the threat to national interests, in order to ensure the operation and functioning of higher education institutions, realizing the right of citizens to education, concluded an Agreement on Cooperation under Martial Law.

The main areas of cooperation under martial law will be carried out in accordance with available resources and are to facilitate the organization of the educational process of those receiving higher education and the functioning of relevant administrative units, the implementation of student’s internal academic mobility in accordance with applicable law.

“Karazin University is the heart of Kharkiv, which will always beat, despite the war and the aggressor’s attempt to destroy Kharkiv. Our university is, first of all, a powerful community that unites more than 23 thousand students and more than 5 thousand teachers, scientists and employees. The war scattered us all – some are now near Kharkiv in the uncontrolled territory, some are under fire in Kharkiv, some have fled and taken their families and children to other regions of Ukraine, some are temporarily abroad. But we are all in touch, communicating, supporting each other and working! And this is important, since university people are the main thing we have!

At the same time, our home, our university, is being barbarically destroyed: the buildings of the Faculty of Economics and the Karazin School of Business, the Faculty of Physics and Technology, the Institute of Public Administration, a sports complex, and several dormitories have been destroyed. Unfortunately, the main buildings on Freedom Square were also damaged – windows were broken, buildings were de-energized. Despite all this vandalism of enemies, we do not stop and work to continue communication, launch distance learning from March 28, pay studentships and salaries to our people, because they need support in this extremely difficult time!

And we thank Poltava Polytechnic, which proved to be a true friend at a time when it is really extremely difficult for us. Thanks to your hospitality, we have set up a coordination center of our university at your place; we are accumulating humanitarian goods, which it is logical to collect in Poltava before delivering to Kharkiv, which is desperately defending itself. You have helped to deploy our servers, which have important information for us with training and information materials, electronic document management for administration work and the learning process. We are very grateful to Poltava Polytechnic for this!

In addition, we are in constant motion between Kharkiv and Poltava, so the opportunity to stop and rest with hospitable people like you, helps us a lot! Strategically, I am sure that Karazin University was, is and always will be in Kharkiv. It cannot move from Kharkiv, because if it starts moving, it will be a betrayal of Ukraine. We believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kharkiv who is the spirit of the Ukrainian people who are defending their land, and in Victory!” – said the rector of Karazin University Tetiana Kahanovska.

Poltava scientists stood and thanked the hero city of Kharkiv, Kharkiv residents, colleagues from Karazin University, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for courage, bravery, for the strength with which they keep the defense and allow neighboring cities to enjoy new days.

“In difficult times, it is important to have friends who will lend a hand and help in any situation. A historic event took place today.

At this difficult time for our country, we are accomplishing the agreements reached in peacetime, realizing that life does not stand still, and we must continue to fulfill our mission - to provide the educational process, think about how to continue and organize scientific activities. You can always count on the support of the Poltava Polytechnic team both now and in the future.

And after the victory we will come to our colleagues and friends in Kharkiv and at the joint meeting of the Academic Councils we will sign a multi-vector updated agreement on educational and scientific activities in peacetime,” – commented Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
