The event united war veterans, servicemembers, representatives of public organizations, medical workers, volunteers, athletes and activists who joined the discussion and contributed important proposals.

The meeting was organized by the program developers – employees of the Department for Reintegration, Social Protection of Veterans and Internally Displaced Persons of the Poltava Regional Military Administration.

The audience was addressed by the Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Anton Chubenko, who emphasized the importance of broad public involvement in the development of the document. He also noted that all key aspects must be considered – socialization, reintegration, rehabilitation, employment and development of the Defenders.

During the meeting, participants thoroughly discussed all areas of the future program, which will cover more than 67,000 people. Currently, 47,242 combatants live in Poltava Region, and they will be the main beneficiaries of the improved support mechanisms.

Head of the Department for Reintegration, Social Protection of Veterans and IDPs of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Olha Saienko presented in detail the project “Comprehensive Program for Supporting the Defenders of Ukraine and Their Family Members in Poltava Region for 2026-2030”, which includes many areas, in particular:

- adaptation of veterans and their families;

- implementation of support mechanisms for receiving housing;

- additional guarantees in the field of social protection;

- professional development, assistance in employment and business initiatives;

- support for veteran sports and cultural initiatives;

- medical, rehabilitation and health resort services;

- honoring the Defenders of Ukraine and commemorating the Fallen;

- informational support.

Participants also highlighted the need to expand support for families of missing persons and prisoners of war.

Poltava Polytechnic systematically joins state and regional programs aimed at supporting veterans and their families, and also provides a platform for discussing important social projects. Vice-Rector for Pedagogical and Educational Work of the University Anatolii Martynenko presented the activities of the Veteran Development Center and outlined the key areas of support provided by the University community.

Among the main opportunities of the Center are:

- education for war veterans;

- provision of psychological consultations, legal assistance and rehabilitation services;

- creation of comfortable conditions for integration into the educational environment.

Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic Lina Rybalko invited war veterans to training sessions at the University’s sports facilities in powerlifting, table tennis, kettlebell lifting, sports billiards and arm wrestling, which are regularly held at the University as adaptive sports for students who are war veterans and combatants.

The participation of Poltava Polytechnic in such events confirms that the University is an important center for shaping high-quality veterans’ policy in the region and actively supports initiatives aimed at reintegrating Defenders into civilian life.

The Polytechnic will continue to develop the opportunities of the Veteran Development Center, support servicemembers and their families, and create conditions for their education, adaptation and professional growth.
