Polytechnic scientists undergo training in effective eco-management at the Jean Monnet International Winter School

Scientists of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Anna Pavelieva and Alla Hliebova became participants of the Jean Monnet International Winter School: University – School “Effective Eco-Management for the European Future of Ukraine”.

On January 22, 2022 on the basis of the Department of Environmental Safety and Occupational Safety of the National University of Food Technology, online International Jean Monnet Winter School: University – School “Effective Eco-Management for the European Future of Ukraine” was held within the framework of the projects of the EU Erasmus+ Program “Jean Monnet Center of the European Union for Cyclical and Green Economy JM ECO” and “Jean Monnet Support for EUforUA Associations”.

Poltava Polytechnic was represented by Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation (Faculty of Humanities) Anna Pavelieva and Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Governance, Administration and Law (Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law) Alla Hliebova.

Participants got acquainted with modern European approaches to effective eco-management, preservation and restoration of the environment, as well as methods of finding new partners for long-term and fruitful cooperation. Experts in the field of eco-management and environmental protection from universities of the European Union and Ukraine, representatives of the EU Erasmus+ Academic Exchange Program, representatives of environmental companies, participants of international environmental projects made reports before the listeners of the School, addressing such topical issues:

  • “Effective eco-manager: to the future through the present” – Oksana Nychyk: member of the Jean Monnet JM ECO project team; guarantor of the educational and professional program Ecology and Eco-management; Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Safety and Health Protection of NUFT;
  • “European Studies in Sustainable Development at the National University of Food Technology” – Ihor Yakymenko: project coordinator Jean Monnet JM ECO and EUforUA; Fulbright Scholar, Indiana University, USA (2008-2009); Head of the Department of Environmental Safety and Health Protection of NUFT;
  • “Learning through research: the experience of the universities of the European Union and Ukraine” – Serhii Kyrylenko: member of the Jean Monnet project team EUforUA; researcher at the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland (1998-2009); scientist of the Marie Curie Program at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic (2009-2013); visiting professor at Campinas University, Brazil (2013-2017); leading researcher of the Center for Biomedical Research of Medical Institute of SSU;
  • “EU Erasmus+ Program for Ukraine: Cooperation in School Education Sphere” – Petro Krainik: Manager of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine in the direction of Jean Monnet;
  • “My Erasmus+ experience: academic mobility of students is cool” – Iryna Hulevata: participant in the Erasmus+ Academic Exchange Program, University of Szczecin, Poland (2021-2022); 2nd year ecology student of NUFT;
  • “Prospects for environmentally oriented business in Ukraine” – Yevhenii Lukashevych: head of the “Ukrainian Technology Company”, Ukraine;
  • “Environmental science and education for environmental technologies” – Yevhenii Shapovalov: member of the project team Jean Monnet EUforUA; senior researcher of the department of creation of educational and thematic knowledge systems of the National Center of Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Chief Specialist of the Electronic Registers System Development Department of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine;
  • “Development of climate literacy and critical thinking through the integration of remote sensing of the Earth into the educational process: the experience of international projects” – Natalia Kobliuk: researcher at the Department of Applied Geoinformatics and Cartography, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic; coordinator of international projects of the GIS and remote sensing laboratory of the National Center of Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
  • “Why should one be environmentally aware and conscious” – Olha Prutsakova: Head of the Laboratory of Experimental Pedagogy and Pedagogical Innovations of the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University;
  • “Eco-management through the eyes of students-ecologists” – Valeriia Vyshneva, Kateryna Kozodoi, Valeriia Kozhan, Stanislav Usenko, environmental students of NUFT.

Discussions took place in the format of an online round table, partakers had the opportunity to get acquainted with the prospects of international cooperation and find interested partners for further cooperation.

Previously, a scientist of the Faculty of Humanities took part in a project to improve economic literacy and knowledge of labor law under the Erasmus+ program, and the director of the Educational and Research Institute of FEML became a speaker in the course of financial literacy for teenagers.

It should be recalled that the European Commission is accepting energy efficiency projects for a grant under the “Horizon Europe” program.
