Polytechnic Students, Post-Graduates and Scientists Together With Business Representatives Presented Their Scientific Research In Oil and Gas Field

The 72nd Scientific Conference of Professors, Teachers, Academic Staff, Post-Graduates and Students of the University, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, was opened with meetings of five subpanels in Zoom.

The first meeting was held in the Oil and Gas Technology subpanel. 88 participants took part in the conference online, and 30 were offline. The students and academic staff of the Education and Research Institute of Oil and Gas prepared 19 scientific reports and presented their research articles in the field of oil and gas production. The meeting was moderated by the Head of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies, PhD in Engineering, Associate Professor Maksym Kharchenko, together with Doctor of Engineering, Professor Ivan Zezekalo and Assistant Professor of the Department Anna Liashenko.

Oleh Holub, the Chief Engineer of the Ukrnaukaheotsentr DC (Ukrainian Scientific Geology Centre) of Nadra Ukraiiny National Joint Stock Company, joined the greeting word.

The academic staff of Poltava Oil and Gas College, and the representatives of numerous petroleum companies, such as “Symoil UA”, Ukrnaukaheozentr, Naftogazvydobuvannya, Beyken Energy, UHV-Service of Ukrhazvydobuvannia, Likvo Specialized Emergency Rescue Service (SERS) and others also participated he scientific discussion.

One of the invited experts, the specialist of the Ukrnaukaheotsentr DC of Nadra Ukraiiny NJSC, polytechnic graduate Ihor Shcherbyna presented the research work of the organization and shared his professional cases on the design and certification of units for exploring oil and gas condensation systems. The center performs research on the poroperm properties of formation pay zone - core, defining the type of primary gas reservoir, researching mechanical properties or rocks and forming project and cost documentation. The organization serves as a place for students’ practice and a future employer for oil and gas speciality graduates - engineers of well development, geologists, ecologists.

The range of problems discussed includes researching the mechanical properties of hard sedimentary rocks, analyzing the industrial slate gas reserves and its field of use, current problems of drilling waste disposal, and oil and gas completion.

During the subpanel meeting, the best scientific report was chosen. It was “Grounding the perspectives of deep concentration of ionogenic and non-ionogenic water solutions based on hydrated gas technology” (by PhD in Engineering, Associate Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technology of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Mykhailo Pedchenko). The article includes detailed description of the designed unit and the perspectives of applying the technologies at industrial objects.

Many of students’ research articles were presented and reviewed, all of them were concentrated on the oil and gas industry problems.

The participants suggested that more foreign students, graduates working in the petroleum field, and specialists should be invited to the next scientific and practical conferences.

Ivan Zezekalo, Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies, mentioned the great level of the meeting organization and wished his colleagues and students further fruitful scientific activity and success in studying.

The schedule of the subpanel and plenary meetings has been published at the official website of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic.
