The agency announced a decision to suspend cooperation with Russian and Belarusian higher education institutions in connection with the war against Ukraine.
“We are outraged by Russia’s war against the Ukrainian people. We believe in the power of international education to promote understanding and cooperation, however what we see now is how the university campuses have been destroyed and our partners, colleagues and friends have been displaced and affected by the humanitarian catastrophe,” – said in an official statement the founder and CEO of the company Nunzio Quacquarelli.
The report notes that in response to the crisis caused by the actions of the Russian Federation, the company is taking a number of measures as following:
- supports Ukrainian and foreign students and applicants affected by the war through advisory services and mobility programs, in particular through the QS TopUniversities portal;
- through various platforms (during summits, through websites and publications) organizes discussions among the international educational community on the crisis caused by the war and finding opportunities to support people affected;
- ceases to cooperate with new clients in the Russian Federation and suspends active interaction with Russian clients with whom cooperation was conducted earlier.
In addition, it was decided not to include Russian and Belarusian higher education institutions in the new rankings of universities formed by the company, as well as to stop advertising Russian higher education institutions or the Russian Federation as a place to study.
Earlier, other authoritative international agencies, which form the rankings of universities, confirmed their readiness to exclude Russian higher education institutions out of their lists.
It should be recalled that the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” in 2022 entered the ranking of the best Eurasian universities QS EECA University Rankings 2022.
