The defense was held basing on the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of March, 6, 2016, No. 167 “The Procedure of Holding the Experiment of Conferring the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy”. In accordance with this procedure, our university submitted an application to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine about creating a specialized Academic Board for the dissertation defense by a degree receiver who has fully completed the study program of the appropriate profile.
Olena Yefimenko’s dissertation “The Stress-Strain State and Bearing Strength of the Compressed Steel and Concrete Composite Elements Armoured with Steel Sheets” was presented for the defense to confer the scientific degree of the Doctor of Philosophy in the specialization No. 192 “Construction and Civil Engineering” (field of study No. 19 “Architecture and Construction”). Her scientific advisor was Doctor of Engineering, Professor of the Department of Metal, Wood and Plastic Constructions of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Leonid Storozhenko. Her official opponents were Doctor of Engineering, Professor, the Head of the Department of Computing Technologies of Construction of National Aviation University Oleksandr Lapenko and Doctor of Engineering, Professor of the Department of Town Construction and Management of National University of Water and Environmental Engineering Dmytro Kochkariov.
The specialized Academic Board was headed by the Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Head of the Department of Architecture and Town Planning of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Oleksandr Semko.
“The topic of my research is still not studied enough today, so I think that it is now relevant and practical. The results have received approval and found practical implementation in civil construction,” the degree receiver explained her choice of topic.
The scientist held numerous experiments to solve the problems of her research, including experiments in the laboratories of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. She developed new methods of calculating the elements and their strength, developed and analyzed the technical and economic efficiency of the steel armoured parts. The author’s research will simplify the process of developing projects of civil and industrial constructions.
The scientific community highly praised the practical novelty of the research in the field of civil construction.
