Students Learn How to Effectively Plan Their Finances and Save Money

Students of Education and Research Institute of Finance Economics and Management of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” led by Doctor of Economics, Professor of Finance, Banking and Taxation Department Svitlana Yehorycheva held an online meeting of a student scientific club, during which they discussed the history of introducing the World Savings Day celebrated annually on the last day of October.

The World Savings Day was held for the first time in October 1924 in Milan, where the representatives of savings banks gathered for the first international specialized congress and offered to celebrate this day annually to promote the idea of savings. In 1989, the UN officially pronounced October, 31 the World Savings Day.

Teachers of Finance, Banking and Taxation Department of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” also joined the event, and the invited guests included Vadym Matiash (Head of Sales Organization Department of Poltava Regional Division of Oshchadbank) and Olena Nikolaienko (graduate of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic, manager of “Poltava-1” Division of TAC Insurance Company).

Doctor of Economics, Professor of Finance, Banking and Taxation Department Svitlana Yehorycheva presented the history of the day, the goal and the tasks of the celebration at the state level, “The motto of this year’s celebration was the famous phrase “When you save a bit, big things follow!” that represents the necessity of economical approach in general to all the resources, because saving money does not mean avarice, it means smart finance management that leads to dreams coming true.”

Students joined the discussion of the problems of savings actively. The received knowledge will definitely be useful for planning the financial aspects of their own life and for studying their professional subject Household Finances.

Finance, Banking and Taxation Department of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” plan to continue holding the professional and educational events and invite highly-qualified specialists to the discussion with student youth.

The finance scientists recently discussed the challenges of globalization and the influence of the pandemic on financial stability in Ukraine at the II International Conference “The Development of Financial Market in Ukraine: Risks, Problems and Perspectives” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
