On March 17, at a meeting of the Academic Council of Poltava Polytechnic, the Regulation on the Gender Center of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was approved.

The opening of the center was implemented as part of the educational project "Profession by vocation, not by stereotypes" initiated by the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" together with the Ukrainian Association of Representatives of Law Enforcement Agencies, the Territorial Administration of the Court Security Service in Poltava region and the Department of Patrol Police in Poltava region. The goal of the project is to create an educational space without gender stereotypes and discrimination, in which people are able and ready to prevent, identify, notice and analyze, respond with their thoughts and actions to all related risks, ensuring the implementation of international and European standards. The target groups of the project are scientific and pedagogical workers, employees and students of educational institutions, students, defenders, members of their families, IDPs, victims of military actions, law enforcement agencies and employees of the judicial security service.

The Rector of the university, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko noted that the idea of creating such a center is promising, new, modern and corresponds to the spirit of the times, and the university is always on the crest of innovation, so it will try to comprehensively support the Gender Center in the implementation of all ideas.

"Last August, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the State Strategy for Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men. It is mandatory for all institutions, facilities, and departments of our country. On the territory of the Poltava region, we decided to take the first step together with law enforcement partners who invest their professional experience to implement the innovations dictated by the times.

The Center will specialize in providing informational, educational and scientific-practical assistance to teachers and students of higher education at the university and other educational institutions, facilities, enterprises, organizations regarding the implementation of gender approaches in education by strengthening the gender component in the content of social and humanitarian disciplines, conducting educational activities and organizing research work on gender issues.

Gender literacy of teaching staff, overcoming gender stereotypes in choosing a profession, economic and legal literacy, sports training and self-defense skills are just a small range of issues that will be covered by the center's activities.

Professionalism has no gender! Everyone is equal in the profession!" – commented the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

The purpose and objectives of the Gender Center of the Poltava Polytechnic were informed at the meeting of the Academic Council of the university by the leading legal adviser of the university, Olena Dubynka, and the employee of the Territorial Administration of the Court Security Service in Poltava region Kateryna Hryhorenko.

"In addition to plans and ideas, we already have real actions that we are taking and will continue to take. We are certified coaches on the basics of gender, we have tactical medics, we have fire training instructors, and we work in a comprehensive manner. For this purpose, the created gender center is not only about gender.

The organization and conduct of trainings for students of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" on pre-medical assistance with certified representatives of law enforcement agencies and employees of the court security service was carried out. 120 people attended this training. We conducted the same courses for the teaching staff of the university. 100 people expressed their desire to take these courses. These courses will be held in the future.

On March 9, a multimedia shooting gallery of the Court Security Service of the Poltava region was presented at the Poltava Polytechnic, which will continue to operate for some time. This shooting gallery was established to provide fire training skills to students and staff of the university and schoolchildren. As of March 16, 1200 people have been trained in this shooting gallery, including students of grades 9-11 of Poltava Lyceum No. 1.

We have already developed a program – a course of lectures on increasing the level of gender literacy of pedagogical workers. We plan to overcome gender stereotypes among children and adolescents regarding the choice of a future profession.

Also, on the basis of the center, we plan to provide legal psychological counseling to persons affected by military actions, including internally displaced persons, defenders, and their family members, and we will organize assistance in the professional adaptation of defenders.

We will do projects with law students, measures for economic literacy, etc. We also plan to raise the issue of sports development. We will be happy to be useful!" – said Kateryna Hryhorenko, an employee of the Territorial Department of the Court Security Service in the Poltava Region, about the areas of work of the gender center and already implemented projects on the basis of Poltava Polytechnic.

The Gender Center will operate within the structure of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" on the terms of a full partnership with the Ukrainian Association of Representatives of Law Enforcement Agencies and the Territorial Administration of the Court Security Service in Poltava region, in accordance with the cooperation memorandums. Representatives of these institutions are full partners of the university in the activities of the center and will participate in the implementation of the assigned tasks.
