University Awarded for Contributing to the Fight Against Cyber Crimes and the Training of IT Specialists

Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko was awarded a personal commendation of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, and the university collective were awarded for their considerable contribution to the training of IT students for fighting and solving cyber crimes.

Within the realization of the Memorandum on Partnership and Cooperation in educational, scientific and professional fields between National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the academic body and Rector of Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko personally were awarded for their professionalism, for providing information and consulting, productive interaction focused on the legal protection of citizens, and the contribution to the strengthening of the Cyber Police Department in fight against the cybercrimes.

“We are getting closer to the anniversary of signing the memorandum between National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine. We have achieved a lot through joined projects over this year of cooperation. Head of the Cyber Crime Counteraction Office in Poltava region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Vedmidskyi visited the meeting of the rectorate, and we summarized this period of work. Teachers and students of the IT specializations of Education and Research Institute of Information Technology and Mechanotronics actively join the organized complex counteraction against various kinds of cybercrime and hacking attacks, helping detect such crimes and determine the consequences of these law violations. I am proud that our specialists’ work is highly praised. It is the quality of the IT specialists’ training, particularly, in the field of cybersecurity, and the cooperation with the Cyber Police that allowed us to be selected to take part in the USAID Cybersecurity Activity project to improve higher education in the field of cybersecurity within the project “Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine”. We are thankful to our partners for their support. We value the practical experience we received greatly. So, for our future student that want to learn such a necessary and up-to-date profession, our doors are open! Welcome to our university!” Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko commented.

Rector was ceremonially awarded the commendation by Head of Cyber Crime Counteraction Office of the Cyber Police Department of National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Vedmidskyi on behalf of Head of the Cyber Police Department Oleksandr Hrynchak.

“We hope that, despite the complicated situation our country is in due to the pandemic, our cooperation will only become more productive and fruitful. The readiness to cooperate and join efforts is the key to achieve success together,” Oleksandr Vedmidskyi added.

On behalf of the academic and student body of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Rector awarded a special university certificate to Head of Cyber Crime Counteraction Office in Poltava region of Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Vedmidskyi and the collective of the office for the fruitful cooperation and their contribution to the training of cybersecurity specialists.

It is important to mention that scientists and teachers of Poltava Polytechnic and specialists of the cyber police are working on the development of modernization of the Cybersecurity study program.

Thanks to the fruitful cooperation between our university and the Cyber Police Department, the implementation of digital technologies and the improvement of higher education quality, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” was chosen for the USAID Cybersecurity Project.
