The only technology and innovation support center of Poltava region, recently opened at Poltava Polytechnic, whose activities include patenting and protection of intellectual property rights of university scientists and state scientific establishments, hosted the round table organized by Faculty of Humanities of Poltava Polytechnic titled “World Cafe. Intellectual Property Protection: Problems and Prospects”.
Scientists from Kuwait, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, the representatives of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute” (Ukrpatent), Representative of the Intellectual Property Office in Kuwait Said Muhammad, teachers and students joined the discussion of current issues and problems of intellectual property. The event was held in three languages, Ukrainian, English and French.
The discussion was moderated by PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor, Dean of Faculty of Humanities of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, participant of internships in Sweden, the Philippines and Ethiopia organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization Anna Ageicheva.
The scientific event was opened by Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Affairs of Poltava Polytechnic Svitlana Sivitska, who greeted the participants on behalf of Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and mentioned the importance and relevancy of such an event:
“The issue of intellectual property protection becomes only more and more important with every year. Scientists of our university do large-scale research projects, receive IP certificates and patents for their designs and scientific models. With the support of Rector of our university, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, we have recently opened the first in Poltava region Technology and Innovation Support Center, the specialists of which provide qualified scientific and methodological support in certification and patenting of research projects and results. The joined international events held with the representatives of the world community held us find ways of solving the pressing issues in the field of intellectual property.”
According to Dean of Faculty of Humanities of Poltava Polytechnic Anna Ageicheva, holding such international events is incredibly important, since it provides a unique chance for scientists to start an active dialog and deepen the students’ knowledge on the problems of intellectual property: “Intellectual property protection is one of the global challenges of today. Have you ever thought how much money companies lose due to unfair competition? How to protect your intellectual work from plagiarism? What problems do authors and inventors face every day? Today we are talking about these problems and ask everyone to respect others’ intellectual property.”
The activity of the Technology and Innovation Support Center, joined international projects were presented by Head of the Department of Intellectual Property Relations Development of State Enterprise “Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute” (Ukrpatent) Kasym Velychko.

Scientist of Poltava Polytechnic Andrii Skrylnyk emphasized the important aspects of continuing the cooperation and holding joined events, which contribute to the build-up of creative potential and the preservation of scientific achievements, and spoke about the activity of the university’s startup school.
“Every year, Faculty of Humanities of Poltava Polytechnic organizes and holds the scientific round table dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day. This year, the event was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. I hope it will be useful for our scientists and inventors,” Dean of Faculty of Humanities of Poltava Polytechnic Anna Ageicheva summarized.
