On August 10, the "Youth Space Makers" workshop took place on the campus of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". The participants generated creative ideas for arranging a new youth space. Online registration was open for the event, so everyone could participate in the creation of the future youth hub project.
The event was organized by the public organization "Nova Poltava" and the municipal institution "Regional Youth Center of the Poltava Regional Council", which involved proactive, talented young people, representatives of the Youth Council of the city of Poltava, in the spatial planning of the new hub.
The project is being implemented with the full support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Poltava Regional Military Administration and the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Maryna Trokhymenko, as well as the administration of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" with the aim of creating an innovative, comfortable center in the city for the comprehensive development of the talented youth of the city and region.
"I am glad that young people join such initiatives, forming a common opinion and taking responsibility for creating their own space. The project applies for non-budgetary financing. I really hope that the public organization "Nova Poltava" will start renovations in the premises with an area of 600 square meters. It will be a space independent of any institutions or political forces. The scope of the dreams of our youth is colossal. I am happy that no one is left behind," – commented the head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Maryna Trokhymenko.
The discussion was moderated by the head of the NGO "Nova Poltava", a member of the Poltava City Council, Yuliia Horodchanina, who supports various social and youth initiatives in the field of beautification and arrangement of co-working zones for young people.
Participants worked in four groups, writing down key ideas on posters and stickers. Navigation in space sometimes gave incredibly cool ideas for arranging this or that area of the hub.
The groups presented their ideas to the organizers, who took the youth's work into account and will discuss the presented proposals with experienced designers. Poltava Polytechnic will also involve its specialists – scientists of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management in the creation of the final version of the project and will work with the estimate documentation for the future youth hub. The author of the project of dendrological revitalization of the university, Pavlo Vasyliev, a senior lecturer of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management, joined the workshop as a member of one of the working groups.
Among the areas that the planning participants see in the future of the space are a reception area, a lounge area, an area for active recreation, a photo zone, a library, a food court, a conference hall, and sports venues. The above-mentioned spatial solutions will have a multifunctional character.
The successful event was the first stage of a large-scale project that will end with the complete arrangement of an innovative cozy space.
"We work with active youth in the format of a workshop, developing ideas on how we would like to create a future youth space in the city of Poltava. We are open to creative ideas, innovative points of view of modern youth on the organization of such a center.
I was inspired by this meeting, because it is very important to understand what is relevant and what are the needs of today's youth. For this, it is necessary to communicate a lot in order to take into account the interests of young people, instead of sitting in the office, looking at beautiful pictures from the Internet. Therefore, today, with the youth, we had maximum immersion in how to create a space where we would like to come as often as possible. I am satisfied with what we saw, and we will certainly take the developed ideas into further work," – commented head of the public organization "Nova Poltava" Yuliia Horodchanina.
The participants themselves, who shared their impressions and expressed hope for the next interesting meetings, were satisfied with the results of their creative ideas.
"I sincerely thank the organizers for such a great event and the opportunity to be creative together in forming ideas about the youth space. I am firmly convinced that it is thanks to such versatile communication that we help those who will work directly on this project to create an incredibly cool platform for young people. It is extremely pleasant not only to be a user of this space in the future, but also to contribute to its creation. I know for sure that this project will have incredible success and a large audience of regular visitors. Who knows, maybe this is where ideas that will change the world for the better will be born. For me personally, as a female architect student, it was a great opportunity to practically apply my own knowledge, to be creative, to see if the ideas directly coincide with the needs of future users, and simply to participate in the formation of comfortable conditions for work, study and recreation in the Youth Hub," – commented Kateryna Kushnirova, a participant of the workshop, a third-year student of the specialty 191 "Architecture and Urban Planning" of the Poltava Polytechnic.
It should be recalled that the Poltava Polytechnic became the most popular Poltava university among applicants, a meeting of the youth leaders of the Poltava Region was held at the Polytechnic on the occasion of the International Youth Day, and the heads of the youth councils of the Poltava Region along with active students received awards.
Earlier, the first Gender Center in the Poltava region was presented at the university, the Poltava Polytechnic joined the Bologna hub and improves now the quality of education with the support of Euro.
