The modern world has its own advantages and peculiarities, which are determined, first of all, by profound and rapid changes affecting all spheres of life on the planet and related to the most urgent problem of nature conservation for every state and person.
"Ecology" means "the science of home" in Greek. The study of ecology and all environmental issues is based on a common understanding of many extremely important processes and events taking place in the environment around us. Therefore, there is now a need for intellectual and spiritual education of every person aimed at forming a new ecological worldview based on the principle of ecological harmony and awareness of the unity of the environment and human beings.
In order for a person to feel like a part of the Universe and to be comprehensively prepared for environmental activities in any sphere of economic activity, it is necessary to educate and form a new environmental personality. Its main task will be to preserve and restore nature for existing and future generations.
The acquisition of such training is possible right now, when environmental education and especially environmental training of engineers is becoming one of the most relevant areas in our country, primarily focused on providing industrial enterprises, organizations and institutions with high-quality specialists.
That is why the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" has chosen the training of ecologists with an engineering profile as its main focus. The main tasks set by the department`s staff when teaching environmental students are the following: gaining a deep knowledge about the environmental aspects of the enterprises production activities of different industries; acquiring the skills of environmental monitoring of all the environment components, the environmental expertise and environmental inspection skills; mastering the methods of analyzing and choosing the best environmental protection measures and, as a result, the abilities to develop and adopt effective management decisions.
The specialties "Ecology" and "Environmental Protection Technologies" were created by the era itself, its modern direction, and therefore they have a great and responsible future.
