American Artist Gives Collection Of Art Publications To Department Of Fine Arts

A few days ago university received a priceless package with a collection of art magazines from the USA, Ceramic Monthly and American Craft, the latest editions of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America’s magazine Our Life, as well as books about art, ceramics, authentic cultures on the American continent, and other materials useful for art students. This gift was sent by the artist, ceramics teacher from Rockville (Maryland, USA) Natalia Kormeluk.

“It’s not the first time when Natalia shares her own art collection with her Ukrainian colleagues. The collection of our Department includes the artist’s beautiful ceramics,” the Head of the Department of Fine Arts, PhD in Art Studies Tetiana Zinenko said. “We met Natalia Kormeluk in 2018 at the First Art and Architecture School “Discovering Poltava Region Together!”, initiated by the Rector of our university, Volodymyr Onyshchenko. We worked with our students at the National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne, and in 2019 we held meetings both in Ukraine and in the USA. We reached an agreement then on the joined creation of a student book on art ceramics, holding lectures and workshops for our university students. Although life made certain corrections, and this year’s communication is held online, it is even more pleasant to see the things which flew from across the ocean to contribute to the high-quality education of our students and promote research among them.”

The Department of Fine Arts is sincerely thankful to Natalia Kormeluk for the attention, care and gifts. We hope to see her personally at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” next year.
