“Building Innovations 2021”: Scientists Discuss Prospects of the Construction Industry and Energy Efficient Economy

On May 20, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” held the IV International Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Conference “Building Innovations 2021”, during which scientists from 36 higher education institutions from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Poland, Croatia, Georgia, Turkey, India and Kazakhstan presented their scientific works in the fields of the construction technology, energy efficiency and architectural design.

For the fourth time, the International Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Conference “Building Innovations-2021” was held within the contract on scientific and educational cooperation between National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction and with the support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine.

The conference was ceremonially opened by Advisor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan Serhii Khabenko, Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, and Rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Doctor of Architecture, Professor Gulchohra Mammadova.

“Due to the pandemic, we hold this event online again, but it does not prevent the scientists from Poltava and Baku from strengthening the cooperation in the field of innovative technology, science and education! I am thankful to Rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Doctor of Architecture, Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, Advisor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan Serhii Khabenko for the support and participation in this important scientific event that develops the potentials of both countries. I remember the days when our delegation visited the sunny city of Baku, where we felt the hospitality and the friendliness of our Azeri partners. I cannot wait to meet our friends and colleagues in the real life again here in Poltava!” Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko greeted the participants and congratulated them on behalf of Rector of KNUCA, Professor Petro Kulikov.

This year, the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani conference was focused on the problem of the construction design development, technology and techniques, town planning, planning of buildings and engineering systems, the issues of energy efficient economy. The scientists from Ukraine and Azerbaijan presented the results of their research and determined the prospects of the construction field development, the training of specialists and scientists in this field. More than 200 participants joined the event. The plenary meeting was moderated by Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Affairs at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Svitlana Sivitska.

Rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Doctor of Architecture Studies, Professor Gulchohra Mammedova emphasized the importance of the cooperation in science and education with one of the best Ukrainian universities: “I am happy that we find strengths for such close professional communication and our scientists gather to discussed the modern problems of the construction field and the fields connected with it even in such a difficult time. We value our cooperation and want to develop various directions of cooperation in science and education.”

Advisor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan Serhii Khabenko highly praised the international cooperation between these two universities.

“I am glad to see that nothing can prevent the friendship between leading higher education institutions in their scientific and educational international cooperation. Thanks to such annual scientific events, the status of Ukraine as a scientific, educational and innovative center is once again confirmed,. Thank you for the possibility to join this discussion,” Serhii Khabenko said.

The sectional meetings of the IV International Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Conference “Building Innovations-2021” were planned for one day and included 123 scientific presentations.

The participants were working in the three following sections:

Section 1: “Constructions, Technology and Equipment in Building”;

Section 2: “The Planning of Towns, Buildings, and Engineering Systems”;

Section 3: “The Implementation of European Standards and Principles of Energy Efficiency”.

The results of the IV International Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Conference “Building Innovations-2021” are published in a collection of articles, available at the official website of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.

National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” keeps developing the cooperation and partnerships in science and education with the leading higher education institutions of Azerbaijan.

The I International Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Conference “Building Innovations-2018” was held on May 24-25, 2018 at Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. The delegation of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” consisted of 25 scientists. More than 200 participants with more than 120 presentation took part at the event. The collection of articles presented at this conference was published in an international journal and indexed by Scopus.

II International Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Conference “Building Innovations-2019” was held at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” on May 23-24, 2019. The delegation of 10 scientists, professors of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction took part in the conference in Poltava. In total, more than 200 participants with approximately 170 presentations took part in the event.

The III International Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Conference “Building Innovations-2020” was held online for the first time on June 1-2, 2020, however the pandemic did not stop the scientific cooperation between our universities. In total, more than 300 participants from Ukraine and Azerbaijan with approximately 157 presentations took part in the event.
