Vice-rectors and heads of structural subdivisions of Poltava Polytechnic took part in the International August Pedagogical Scientific-Practical Conference “Education, educators – indomitable in war”. Educators discussed the challenges of the war, the peculiarities of the academic year in the conditions of the war, and considered strategic plans for the future.

On August 18, on the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the International August Pedagogical Scientific and Practical Conference “Education, educators – indomitable in war” was held – one of the main events for all educators in the conditions of martial law. The conference worked in the format of a plenary session at 12 locations in the thematic directions in the educational institution of the hero city of Bucha, which withstood, despite the active hostilities.

The main speakers of the conference were Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Serhii Babak, Chairman of Kyiv RMA Oleksii Kuleba, Bucha Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk, President of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine (NAES of Ukraine) Vasyl Kremen, co-chairman of the NGO “Parents SOS” Aliona Parfionova and the directors of the departments of education and science of the RMA.

The academic staff of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” – Vice-rectors, Directors of Educational and Research Institutes and Deans of university faculties – joined the conference online.

“Symbolically, the local school of the indomitable hero city of Bucha was chosen as one of the conference locations.

Education and educators are indomitable in war, since on the tenth day of the military aggression of the russian federation, thanks to their coordinated work, as well as the VRU Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, we continued the educational process. All Ukrainian children, regardless of their place of residence, were included in the study, and later – certified.

We also received significant international support from governments and partners, foundations and organizations. I would like to thank the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic Vladimír Balaš, the Minister of Education and Science of Poland Przemysław Czarnek and the Minister of National Education and Youth of the French Republic Pap Ndiaye for today’s greetings to Ukrainian educators.

In two weeks, for the first time since the end of World War II, we will, unfortunately, begin the academic year under martial law. Our most important task is not to lose a single child, a single student of education, no matter where s/he is territorially located,” – said Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet.

During the conference, educators discussed the challenges that exist in the field of education and science due to the large-scale invasion of the russian federation on the territory of Ukraine, the necessary legislative changes for the development of the education system, the peculiarities of learning in the new academic year, and strategic plans as well as opportunities for cooperation with international partners of the EU countries in the field of education and science.

The Minister of Education and Science focused the attention of the event participants on the inseparability of the educational process with national and patriotic educational work. In addition, the Minister spoke about the successful completion of the NMT by entrants both in Ukraine and abroad.

“Almost 10,000 NMT participants received 200 points in at least one subject, and almost 3,000 received 200 points in each of the three subjects. Our children convincingly demonstrated that all citizens of Ukraine should know the Ukrainian language as well as the history of Ukraine. We are proud of our children! They, like us adults, are indomitable! They are the worthy future of our country!” – stressed Serhii Shkarlet.

At the end of the conference, the Minister noted that the task for this academic year is not only clear steps for the successful functioning of the education system of Ukraine in this extremely difficult period, but also for its successful development and further reforming.

Earlier, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Serhii Zakharin, took part in the meeting of the Rectorate of the Poltava Polytechnic.

It should be recalled that a new academic year has begun at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
