“Horizon Europe for Ukraine”: scientists discuss practical cases of effective participation in the project

On October 24, 2022, a seminar “Horizon Europe for Ukraine” was held on the Zoom online platform. It was conducted for scientific, scientific and pedagogical workers of higher education institutions, persons responsible for international cooperation, organized with the full support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The main goal of the large-scale scientific event was to increase the level of awareness of Ukrainian scientists regarding the wide opportunities and professional prospects of participation in the “Horizon Europe” program. Within the framework of the seminar, experienced and young scientists shared practical knowledge gained during the “Horizon 2020” project and cases of successfully won grants from the “Horizon Europe” program.

National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” was represented at the event by the Head of the educational module of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project “Reforming the environmental, energy, economic and financial spheres of Ukraine in the conditions of European integration”, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Business and Marketing of Poltava Polytechnic Kseniia Chychulina, who took an active part in the discussion of the most pressing issues of scientific research and project activities under the “Horizon Europe” program.

Within the framework of the seminar, scientists from different parts of our country discussed the features of creating an effective project application, learned how to correctly choose promising areas of scientific research and assemble a project team, carry out the project registration procedure, and discussed the search for main attachments on the portal.

The main speakers of this event were:

  • Professor Maksym Pohorielov (University of Latvia (Latvia) and Sumy State University (Ukraine);
  • Professor Mikhael Bechelany  (European Membrane Institute (France);
  • Head of the expert group on integration into the European Research Space of the Science and Innovation Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Hryhorii Mozolevych.

Authoritative scientists presented interesting and informative reports in Ukrainian and English, in which they shared their own opinions on the successful implementation of the proposed project models. Let us note the fact that the topics of the reports concerned the search for effective tools for the submission and implementation of “Horizon 2020” projects.

In his report “Horizon Europe: introduction and some basic rules”, Professor Maksym Pohorielov spoke about the features of this program and presented useful practical experience necessary for participation in the project. The English-language speech “Project model: from perfection to implementation” by Professor Mikhael Bechelany drew the attention of those present to the criteria for the implementation of project works, and the head of the expert group on integration into the European Research Space of the Directorate of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Hryhorii Mozolevych presented the report “Integration of Ukraine to the European Research Space”, dedicated to active European integration processes in Ukrainian education and science.

“During the seminar, I learned a number of useful hands-on cases, which I plan to use in my further scientific, educational and research activities. It is difficult to overestimate the role of participation in such scientific events, because it is an additional opportunity to communicate with reputable scientists, professionals in their field, ready to share the necessary practical knowledge and open to fruitful cooperation. Personally, for me, establishing a dialogue, exchanging opinions with representatives of the Ukrainian and European scientific community is another positive incentive for further personal growth as a scientist,” – commented the Head of the educational module of the Erasmus+ Jeanne Monnet project “Reforming the environmental, energy, economic and financial spheres of Ukraine in the conditions of European integration”, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Business and Marketing of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Kseniia Chychulina.

Recently, the Polytechnic team became a semi-finalist in the startup project competition from Create Creative Entrepreneurs, the marketing director of the “Debit Plus” company gave a lecture to students about the features of automating financial reporting, and the Polytechnic teachers improved their digital skills in working with young people under the Erasmus+ programme.

Previously, Poltava Polytechnic scientists presented success stories of participation in Erasmus+ projects, economist scientists analyzed risks and threats to economic security in wartime conditions and prospects for the reconstruction period, a Polytechnic scientist became a laureate of the “Renewable Energy Award”, three scientists became speakers at an international conference in Germany, and the project of Polytechnic scientists won the Jean Monnet Actions competition from the Erasmus+ program.
