New competitions for NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme for 2023 are announced

NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme announces new competitions for scientists for 2023. Preference is given to research in the field of artificial intelligence, quantum and biotechnology, technological convergence, climate change, environmental and energy security. The application deadline is February 17, 2023.

New competitions for NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme for 2023 are announced

NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme strengthens civilian science and technology to address emerging security challenges and their impact on international security.

Priority topics that will receive special attention in 2023:

  • emerging and disruptive technologies: policies related to emerging and disruptive technologies, quantum technologies, autonomy, artificial intelligence, data, biotechnology and human enhancement, new materials and manufacturing, technological convergence;
  • climate change and security / environmental security / energy security.

Scientists can receive funding from the NATO programme in the following formats:

  • conducting Multi-Year research and development Projects (MYP);
  • organization of events: Advanced Research Workshops (ARW), Advanced Training Courses (ATC), Advanced Study Institutes (ASI).

Proposals should be developed jointly by scientists or experts from at least one NATO country and one relevant partner country.

The duration of the project is up to 36 months. The estimated budget of one project is from 150,000 to 350,000 euros.

The application deadline is February 17, 2023.
