On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a round table is held on the safety of participants in the educational process during the war

This scientific-practical event was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Zakharin, Head of the Department of State Labor in the Poltava region Serhii Shcherbak, First Deputy Head of the Department Oleksandr Rozumnyi and Chief Specialist of the Mobilization, Civil Protection and Life Safety Sector of the Ministry of Education and Science Vitalii Mishchenko. The moderator was the Head of the Department of Labor Protection of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Iryna Zorina.

“Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet emphasizes that the educational process should continue, but in compliance with the security situation, as one of the main priorities in the war is to protect participants in the educational process, employees of educational institutions. I absolutely agree and this opinion is shared by all responsible heads of educational institutions.

Supporting the Minister’s thesis, the program of speeches was devoted to the issue of national importance – safe working and living conditions of participants in the educational process during wartime.

University scientists and guest speakers have comprehensively considered the most important aspects from the peculiarities of the organization of labor protection and forced evacuation to the preservation of physical and mental health. Academic staff and those receiving higher education need to have the necessary skills, and the importance of safe working and learning conditions is difficult to overestimate. Thanks to colleagues and specialists who help create safe conditions at Poltava Polytechnic!

Do not ignore the rules of safety, follow the advice of experts and continue to work for Victory in order to return to normal life as soon as possible! Glory to Ukraine!” – commented the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Zakharin on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and personally the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet congratulated and thanked the staff of Poltava Polytechnic for conscientious implementation of the mobilization task:

“It is extremely gratifying that despite the current challenges of the education system, National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” continues its scientific and educational work, actively fulfilling its mission of preserving statehood, spirituality and sovereignty.

I would like to thank you personally, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych, for your involvement in mobilization tasks from the first minutes of martial law imposition, for providing assistance to other universities, all students, and academic staff. I am convinced that today’s event will be another powerful contribution to our common victory. The proposals and recommendations provided by you for the authorities, including the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, we will certainly implement your developments and your ideas in real life.

Special thanks to colleagues from the Department of State Labor in the Poltava region for your continuous support of the education system, that you find an opportunity in these difficult times to share your own experience.”

Even in the conditions of struggle against the Russian aggressor Poltava Polytechnic continues to cooperate with the Department of State Labor in the Poltava region under the leadership of Serhii Shcherbak. Employees of the Department systematically train academic staff as well as employees of the university with the receipt of relevant certificates, initiate joint round tables and scientific events on the precincts of the university.

“First of all, I would like to say a few words about the changes in our work under martial law. First, we are working on such activities as assistance to relocated enterprises. Many companies are moving from the temporarily occupied territories to places where it is possible to work. That is why the employees of the State Labor Office provide consultations on both the organization of labor and labor protection issues. We also have a service such as “interactive inspector” – the site has a tab, and both the employer and the employee can go there, ask questions and get answers. The chatbot of the State Labor Service works in our Telegram – you can also ask questions and get an answer there. Unfortunately, we now have an investigation into the accidents caused by the hostilities. For the period of martial law, the terms of providing administrative services have been suspended; the list of types of work that the company can perform according to the submitted declaration has expanded.

It is extremely gratifying that the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” pays considerable attention to the issue of labor protection. Representatives of the Department of State Labor in the Poltava region traditionally participate in university events, scientific and practical conferences, and scientific round tables.

Despite the new challenges posed by the war with the Russian occupiers and the mixed format of our round table, I firmly believe that this will not affect the quality and effectiveness of communication. I wish you interesting discussions, effective professional communication and a peaceful sky over your head!” – wished the head of the Department of State Labor in the Poltava region Serhii Shcherbak.

The round table program included speeches by scientists and students of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management, Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, specialists in the sector of mobilization work, civil protection and life safety of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and practical psychologist, who focused on key aspects of labor protection in emergencies and military aggression.
