Polytechnic invites to write the Radio Dictation of National Unity-2022

The academic staff of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation of Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” invites teachers, students and all the lovers of the Ukrainian language to take an active part in the annual national flash mob.

The all-Ukrainian event “XXII Radio Dictation of National Unity” will be held on 9 November 2022 at 11:00 (Kyiv time). It will be broadcast live on Ukrainian Radio, Kultura Radio, UA: Pershyi, on the Facebook pages of Suspilne and YouTube channels of Ukrainian Radio and Suspilne News, as well as on all regional channels.

The text of this year’s Radio Dictation of National Unity was written by Ukrainian writer and filmmaker, member of PEN Ukraine Iryna Tsilyk. The text will be read live by People’s Artist, Hero of Ukraine Ada Rohovtseva.

According to a member of the board of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine responsible for the radio and television platform Dmytro Khorkin, this year’s Radio Dictation is, first and foremost, an action of national unity, wherever we are. Thanks to the capabilities of Ukrainian Radio, everyone can join the campaign, regardless of where they are in the world at this difficult time for Ukrainians. “Today it is especially important because we see that the war in Ukraine is about preserving our identity. This is a flash mob of respect for our culture, an opportunity to join a joint action that unites us all,” – emphasised Dmytro Khorkin.

Professor of the Ukrainian Language Department at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and a leading researcher at the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Larysa Masenko became the project’s scientific consultant for the third time.

It is worth noting that the writing of the Radio Dictation 2022 is adapted to wartime conditions, and special studios will be set up in different countries of the world for internally displaced persons and Ukrainians living abroad.

“Suspilne Broadcasting has teams in all regions: radio, television and digital, which also join our autumn flash mob. We will make teleconferences with several regions to convey the atmosphere of unity from different regions and locations,” – explained coordinator of the Radio Dictation of National Unity project, executive producer of Ukrainian Radio Yulia Sheludko.

The participants’ works will be accepted in both online and offline formats. The dictation should be written by hand on a piece of paper that can be photographed. After completing the dictation, everyone can send their works to the email address of Ukrainian Radio: rd@ukr.net

A paper letter should be sent to the following address: 26 Khreshchatyk Street, Kyiv, 01001, Ukrainian Radio, Radio Dictation (postmarked no later than 10 November).

The deadline for sending the finished text is an astronomical day.

After the dictation is published on the website of Ukrainian Radio on 11 November, no emails will be accepted.

The results will be announced within 1 to 2 months, depending on the number of letters received. Participants who wrote without a single mistake will receive gifts from the project partners.

It should be recalled that the Radio Dictation of National Unity was launched by the Ukrainian Radio team in 2000. Since then, it has been held annually on the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language. Traditionally, the most active participants in the flash mob are pupils, students and teachers of educational institutions, but every year the dictation expands its boundaries – people of all ages and professions take part in it, joining the Radio Dictation as a sign of respect for the Ukrainian language.

Earlier, the winners of the first stage of the XIII Taras Shevchenko International Literary and Language Contest for Pupils and Students were announced.
