The national team of Ukraine demonstrated excellent sports results at the World Powerlifting Championship, which took place on August 27-30, 2022 in Istanbul. The participants of the competition were boys and girls, juniors (male and female) who are taking their first confident steps in sports and experienced veterans who already have a number of awards in prestigious international tournaments. Athletes from different parts of the world demonstrated excellent physical form, high level of preparation and intense struggle.
Dariia Holovko, a student of the Educational and Research Institute Oil and Gas of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", took first place among juniors in the weight category up to 43 kg. The athlete lifted 115 kg in the squat, 52.5 kg in the bench press and took 110 kg in the deadlift, gaining a total of 277.5 kg in the triathlon. The athlete was trained by an experienced coach, master of sports of Ukraine of the international class in powerlifting, deputy dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Oksana Hordiienko, who has already brought up a whole constellation of professional athletes. Last year, under her guidance, Dariia Holovko became the European champion in powerlifting.

Earlier Dariia Brazhnyk, a student of Oksana Hordiienko, a graduate of the university, during her master's studies became the world champion in 2019 and set a Ukrainian record. The teacher was recently awarded the Citation of the Mayor for her significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports in Poltava, won a silver medal at the European Powerlifting Championship.

It should be recalled that student-athletes of the university and college will receive material support from the Poltava community, the Minister of Education and Science congratulated the students of the Polytechnic University – the winners of the European University Games-2022, and the President of Ukraine awarded the Order of Merit of the II degree to the graduate of the university – the champion in Thai boxing.
