Thematic webinar on the occasion of the International Energy Saving Day, organized by lecturers of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Marketing of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" aimed to discuss existing energy efficiency challenges and draw attention of the world and professional communities to find ways of solving energy and resource conservation global problems in European countries. Lecturers, students, practitioners discussed modern trends and innovative energy-saving technologies, deliberated on a number of the most relevant issues – what is energy saving, what are the advantages and disadvantages of solar stations and wind turbines, including "green tariff", what a "smart home" looks like, how to save energy in everyday life.
The moderator of the event – Kseniia Chychulina, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Marketing at National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", spoke about the traditions of celebrating the International Energy Saving Day and the Erasmus + Jean Monnet program "Energy Efficiency Challenges: Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU". The International Energy Saving Day is celebrated by the member states of the European Union on the initiative of the international environmental network SPARE annually on November 11, since 2008. The main purpose of the holiday is to draw the attention of the authorities and the public to the rational use of resources and the development of renewable energy sources, as energy savings will reduce pollution.
"For several years in a row, the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" joints international initiatives, scientists of our university hold thematic workshops and webinars, and involve scientists from leading Ukrainian and European universities in discussing current problems of energy efficiency. This year we are not staying away either," – emphasized scientist Ksenia Chychulina.
During the fruitful professional communication, scientists and students of the specialty "Marketing", "Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activities", "Construction and Civil Engineering", "Environmental Protection Technologies" of Poltava Polytechnic actively shared modern life hacks on the possibilities of energy and resources conservation. The intense webinar program included interesting speeches from students of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law, the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management and the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". In particular, within the framework of the Erasmus + Jean Monnet program "Energy Efficiency Challenges: Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU", the webinar participants discussed European approaches to the regulatory framework and assessment of Ukraine's potential in energy-efficient construction.
The event was attended by representatives of top management and specialists of specialized companies, in particular, LUMOS, who presented the principles of the solar power plant as well as a detailed feasibility study for its installation. Andrii Siednin, Head of Sales Department of LUMOS, emphasized on increasing the pace of development of "green" electricity in the Poltava region and the popularization of this area in Ukraine.
It should be recalled that the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" will prepare specialists in the field of renewable energy.
At the end of the scientific and educational event, the participants stressed that the successful collaboration of education + science + business and a powerful synergistic effect from the implementation of this well-known "formula of success" have become a reliable guarantee of successful future and career growth of a modern professional. Previously, students compared the experience of Ukraine, the Countries of the East and the European Union, scientists and entrepreneurs discussed the development of alternative energy sources in Poltava region, and DTEK Oil&Gas opened an innovative location "DTEK Alley" at Poltava Polytechnic, equipped with LED lanterns, solar panels that work as charging stations for various devices.
