On May 17, 2023, students of the second (master’s) level of higher education in the specialty 292 “International Economic Relations” of the Educational and Research Institute of Economics, Finance, Management and Law of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Anastasiia Andriiash, Vitalii Korshenko and Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism Iryna Levchenko joined the work of the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical conference: “STEM – the world of innovative opportunities. The model of a STEM educational institution: strategies, structure, directions and forms of activity”. Due to the introduction of martial law and active hostilities on the territory of our country, a large-scale scientific and educational event took place in an online format.
During the four hours of the intensive, the participants improved their practical skills and discussed current issues of organization and creation of a model of a STEM education institution. The most practically oriented and useful from the point of view of Poltava Polytechnic students’ specialty were Roman Chernenko’s report “Self-realization as an important element of successful STEM. The use of STEM technologies in further educational and professional activities”, Iryna Vasylashko and Iryna Patrusheva’s report “Development of STEM education through project activities”, as well as Iryna Vasylenko and Valentyna Chernomorets’s report “Integration into the European STEM space”.
The attendees also deliberated on the issues of successful strategies for the STEM education implementation, which include fundamental education, scientific and technical creativity, career support, cooperation with higher education institutions and employers, teacher training, and performance monitoring. The participants shared effective cases and exchanged the acquired practical experience on this topic.
It should be noted that a large-scale scientific and educational event was held by the Institute of education content modernization (Kyiv), which is not the first time organizing interesting and relevant conferences and courses in the field of STEM education.
According to the results of the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference: “STEM – the world of innovative opportunities. The model of a STEM educational institution: strategies, structure, directions and forms of activity”, all participants received appropriate diplomas.
Earlier, female students participating in the Second International Virtual School shared their impressions of studying at a leading Polish university, and participants of the long-term academic mobility programme in Greenland shared their impressions of studying and getting to know the country’s cultural flavour.
