Fourth year student of the Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Anastasiia Molodcha attended the annual technical conference and exhibition ATCE, which was held in New Orleans, USA, from 23 to 25 September, 2024.
During the conference, the student represented National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and SPE Student Chapter (National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” SPE Student Chapter), which successfully operates on the basis of Poltava Polytechnic.
The event was held in a large exhibition hall, where companies demonstrated many of the latest technologies and innovations. Besides the exhibition, there were numerous technical sessions with industry professionals, competitions among student research papers and sections.
Speakers’ presentations focused on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), an innovative paradigm in energy and oil and gas engineering, shallow well performance, improvements in automation and digital drilling technology, geothermal energy, the introduction of artificial intelligence and analysis of facility as well as asset management.
Anastasiia Molodcha had the opportunity to talk to prominent representatives of SPE International, in particular, Olivier Houze, the President-Elect of SPE for 2025, and Pierre Emmanuel d’Huar, Regional Director of SPE Europe, who was recently welcomed at Poltava Polytechnic.
The student exchanged experience with students from other SPE chapters around the world and met many international experts as well. During the tour of the Houston campus, Anastasiia met with professors from Texas A&M University Tom Blasingame and Iskander Diyashev.
She also visited the ExxonMobil headquarters and the Consulate of Ukraine in Houston, where she thanked the representatives for their support of Ukraine and stressed the importance of further assistance to Ukrainian students who are currently facing numerous challenges during their studies.
“This conference was an important step towards professional growth and strengthening international relations. I am incredibly grateful to the university and the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, for the opportunity to attend an event of this level. I would also like to express my gratitude to SPE Central Ukraine Section and its chairman Yurii Moroz for their support, and especially to Iryna Petrovska-Marciano, who was the project manager of this project and supported us during the whole visit,” – shared her thoughts Anastasiia Molodcha.
It should be recalled that Poltava Polytechnic develops international cooperation with the European Chapter of SPE, and the SPE Student Chapter of Poltava Polytechnic received the award of the European Regional Directorate of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) “The Best Student Chapter in Europe”.
