Participants of the Revolution of Dignity, representatives of public organizations, officials and Poltava residents gathered on the square in front of the Poltava Regional State Administration. Teachers, students of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and cadets of the Department of Military Training came to pay tribute to the dead.

"Today we commemorate the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred who gave their lives during the Revolution of Dignity. They went on their great feat consciously and without fear. They gave impetus to changes in our country, showed the purpose, goal and hope to which we strive. Eight years have passed since that time, and today thousands of citizens continue to protect our state at the cost of their own lives, – noted Deputy Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration Kateryna Ryzhechenko. – The country faces new external and internal challenges, therefore everyone in their place must protect the integrity of the state. Glory to Ukraine! Eternal glory to the Heroes!".

107 dead became heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. They are different in age, gender, education, from different parts of Ukraine and from abroad. Among the fallen are two Poltava residents. Ihor Serdiuk, a resident of Kremenchuh, was killed on February 18. On the same day, Andrii Chernenko from Slobodo-Petrivka, Hrebinka district, received a bullet wound and died in hospital.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Poltava Regional Council, Oleksandr Lemeshko, added that even today, all those who fight for the integrity and unity of our country continue with honor and dignity the feat of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, which will always live in our hearts.

"Honoring the feat of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, Ukrainians return with memories to 2014, to the anxious days of uncertainty and grief. The Revolution of Dignity forced many to reconsider their views on life, and the most important thing is that eight years later, in front of the memorial stele, as then on the Maidan, people of different professions, strata, beliefs are standing side by side – all here today, at home, united by faith in the future of Ukraine, even in the face of terrible threats, ready to defend their native land to the last, build it up and nurture new generations of Ukrainians. Do everything so that the lives of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred are not given in vain.

The team of Poltava Polytechnic remembers with sadness our graduate Dmytro Koriak, who from December 2013 until the end of the Revolution of Dignity was in Kyiv on the Maidan, in particular during the tragic events on Bankova and Instytutska. Then he was one of the first to go to the front as a volunteer.

May the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred live forever, be worthy of their sacrificial love for Ukraine.

Glory to Ukraine!" – commented the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

Recently, students and scientists of the Poltava Polytechnic became laureates of scholarships of the Poltava Regional Council named after the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Ihor Serdiuk and Andrii Konopliov, and two more female students were awarded scholarships named after the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Oleksandr Plekhanov and Vasyl Moisei.

Earlier, the university honored the memory of the fallen student Maksym Khitailov, marked the Day of Unity with a solemn rally and patriotic flash mob, the students of the Polytechnic honored the memory of the participants in hostilities on the territory of other states, and also honored the memory of the fallen graduate Dmytro Koriak.
