“Universities for Sustainable Development”: Vilnius University of Applied Sciences invites Poltava Polytechnic teachers to take part in online seminars on sustainable development

A partner of Poltava Polytechnic, Vilnius University of Applied Sciences, invites academic staff of the university to take part in online seminars for teachers on sustainable development within the Universities for Sustainable Development project. The scientific events will be held at the partner university in a mixed format on 6-7 March 2024. Online registration is available.

A partner of Poltava Polytechnic, Vilnius University of Applied Sciences, invites academic staff of Poltava Polytechnic to take part in online seminars on sustainable development within the Universities for Sustainable Development project. The scientific events will be held at Vilnius University of Applied Sciences in a mixed format on 6-7 March 2024.

Heads of departments, directors of educational and research institutes, deans of faculties, and heads of departments are also encouraged to take part in the seminars.

The seminars will discuss such issues as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), why it is important for modern universities to comply with them, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of universities in terms of sustainable development and developing an action plan to achieve them.

The language of the seminars is English.

Participation in the seminars is free of charge.

“Taking part in such events is an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of best practices in integrating sustainability principles into various aspects of university activities, including curriculum development, research and campus management, as well as to learn about different perspectives and innovative approaches to implementing the sustainable development goals from around the world. The workshops and discussions within the seminars will allow the participants to evaluate the current achievements of their higher education institution in the field of sustainable development and to design targeted strategies to improve the sustainable development practices in Poltava region,” – explained the Coordinator of International Cooperation of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, External Communications Coordinator at Eurodoc, Member of the Expert Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Anna Pavelieva.

Recently, Polytechnic teachers and students attended lectures on building acoustics by a representative of a British acoustic design and consulting agency, a Polytechnic scientist visited Washington, DC, as part of the Open World programme and got acquainted with American higher education by visiting a local community, and visited one of the leading universities in Florida, went to Embry-Riddle University – a private aviation university, also known as the “The Harvard of the Skies” and paid a visit to Everglades University, university students took language intensives at the NAWA Summer School of Polish Language and Culture, Polytechnic scientists celebrated ErasmusDays2023, and Polytechnic students held a workshop on “green” lifestyle.

It should be noted that students of Poltava Polytechnic have the opportunity to study abroad under the grant programmes of credit academic mobility for a semester or a whole academic year at the leading universities of Austria, Greenland, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Finland, and the Czech Republic.
