While the russian occupiers are trying to take away our independence, sovereignty, destroy our heritage and nature, Ukrainians continue to defend their state, each on their own front.

On September 17, 2022, the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” united under the global movement and, together with millions of activists from 191 countries, joined the World Cleanup Day under the slogan “Let the sky be peaceful and Ukraine be clean!”. The university community joined forces with activists from all over Ukraine to hold the country’s environmental defense together.

In 2022, World Cleanup Day in Ukraine was unusual. The team of the All-Ukrainian youth movement “Let’s do it Ukraine” prepared new formats, in particular filling out the National map of the collection of secondary raw materials, as well as conducted briefings on safety techniques, in particular, together with the military, they developed special instructions on mines and explosives’ safety, which are important for everyone to know.

“We are indomitable Ukrainians! We continue to defend our independent and sovereign state, while the russian occupiers are trying to take away our freedom. We keep the ecological defense of our state on our own front! Let’s meet the victory in a clean country! Join in!” – noted the organizers from “Let’s do it Ukraine”.

Teachers and students of the Department of Applied Ecology and Nature Management, the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, together with the Dean of the Faculty, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko, representatives of the Student Parliament and the Trade Union Committee of Students and Postgraduates of the university were particularly active in cleaning up the territory of the student campus of the Poltava Polytechnic. First-year students participated in the event as well.

“Every year, traditionally, the international campaign of the World Cleanup Day at the Poltava Polytechnic unites students, teachers and management. This year, we gathered as a large family to organize the territory of the university campus, where internally displaced persons have been living for a long time. Poltava Polytechnic is an area of comfort, safety, cleanliness and order,” – commented the President of the Student Parliament Liudmyla Bylym.

The participants note that such events contribute to the formation of a national culture of cleanliness, beautification, proper waste management, careful attitude to the environment, creation of favorable conditions for the development of volunteering, self-realization of Ukrainian youth, development of local communities, and involvement of IDPs in socially useful activities.

Earlier, the Polytechnic students attended an all-Ukrainian public lecture by the NACP on integrity and the fight against corruption, and linguistics students presented their own eco-education in a project dedicated to the development of environmental awareness among Europeans as well as held a charity auction.
