Visit to Denmark: Poltava Polytechnic Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Zealand Academy of Technologies and Business

On August 5, 2025, a working visit was made by Anna Pavelieva, International Relations Coordinator of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic," Ph.D. in Philology, and Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation, to one of the key international partners – ZEALAND Academy of Technologies and Business (Denmark). This meeting became an essential step in strengthening a partnership that has been successfully ongoing for over three years and opens unique opportunities for the students and faculty of Poltava Polytechnic.

During the visit, Anna Pavelieva conveyed sincere greetings and symbolic gifts on behalf of the President of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Volodymyr Onyshchenko, and the Rector, Olena Filonych. She expressed deep gratitude to her Danish colleagues for their unwavering support of Ukraine, and especially for the incredible mobility programs and the care they provide to Poltava Polytechnic students during their studies in Denmark.

The Danish colleagues gave the Poltava Polytechnic representative a detailed presentation of their institution. ZEALAND Academy of Technologies and Business is a public academy of professional higher education, the fifth largest in Denmark, with about 3,000 full-time students. The academy's educational philosophy is focused on a practical approach and close ties with business and industry, reflected in their motto, “Know-how vs. knowing how to do it!”. Students are offered innovative programs in the fields of business, technology, and IT, and mandatory internships are an integral part of the curriculum, ensuring a high level of graduate employability.

After the presentation, Anna Pavelieva was given an exciting tour of the academy's modern campus. Special attention was paid to the state-of-the-art laboratories and research centres where students work on real-world projects. Anna Pavelieva had the opportunity to see firsthand the excellent conditions in which Poltava Polytechnic students study and conduct research during their academic mobility, which once again confirmed the high standards and practical focus of education at ZEALAND Academy of Technologies and Business.

A key topic of the meeting was the discussion of future vectors of cooperation and the expansion of its scope. In particular, the parties discussed ambitious plans to transition from cooperation under the Erasmus+ KA131 program to Erasmus+ KA171, which will allow for additional funding for mobility with partner countries. Detailed plans were also made for organising academic mobility for 10 students from three educational and research institutes of Poltava Polytechnic for the spring semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.

The visit was an excellent opportunity for a personal meeting with colleagues with whom Poltava Polytechnic closely cooperates within international programs. The fruitful discussions involved:

  • Ole Kolling – Director of International Relations and Programmes;
  • Marie-Josée Giasson Jensen and Anders Studsgård Winsløw – International Mobility Ambassadors;
  • Per Mejer – Lawyer and Assistant Professor in Law, Project Management, and Construction.

“This visit is not just a formal meeting, but a warm conversation with friends and reliable partners who work side-by-side with us for the future of our youth. ZEALAND Academy of Technologies and Business is a model of an innovative approach to education and true European solidarity for us. We are extremely grateful for every project we have implemented and look to the future with optimism. The plans discussed for expanding cooperation open new, even more ambitious prospects for our students, and this inspires us to work even harder,” – commented Anna Pavelieva.

International cooperation remains a strategic priority for Poltava Polytechnic, as it not only enriches the educational process but is also an essential tool for integration into the European educational area. Such visits strengthen trust, foster new ideas, and ensure the stable development of joint projects aimed at supporting and developing Ukrainian students.
