From October 13 to 17, 2025, Lyudmyla Svystun, Head of the Department of Finance, Banking, and Taxation at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, and Yuliia Khudolii, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking, and Taxation, participated in the E3UDRES2 science festival as part of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program for teachers at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in Valmiera, Latvia. The purpose of the trip was to establish new contacts with colleagues from other universities, strengthen institutional partnerships, exchange experiences in higher education, participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences, evaluate student research papers, and present Poltava Polytechnic and its educational programs at an international level.
The program was rich and informative. During the university and city presentations, Yuliia Khudolii introduced Poltava Polytechnic, outlined its main areas of scientific and educational activity, and shared the university's achievements. An essential part of the program included meetings with the program directors of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Agita Līviņa and Aigars Andersons. During these meetings, they discussed opportunities for students from the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management, and Law to participate in guest lectures by Latvian lecturers, prospects for scientific cooperation, participation in conferences, joint publications, and the expansion of academic mobility for students, postgraduate students, and faculty from both universities. Lyudmyla Svystun presented the achievements of the institute and the Department of Finance, Banking, and Taxation in training students at the first, second, and third levels, outlining the challenges and prospects facing higher education in Ukraine.
As part of the scientific program, the lecturers participated in student oral and poster presentations, served as experts in evaluating student research papers, and attended a seminar by FH-Prof—Dr Dawn Grace Kremslehner-Haas from St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences (Austria) and MSc. Miriam Losse from Saxion University of Applied Sciences is dedicated to methodological support for supervisors in advising students on the preparation of their qualification and research papers. Sections of the 5th International Scientific Conference SOCIETY. TECHNOLOGY. SOLUTIONS, focusing on sustainable development and the circular economy and directly aligned with Poltava Polytechnic's research themes, generated significant interest.
The participants paid special attention to the keynote speeches by Professor Scott McCabe from the University of Birmingham and PhD candidate Sjoerd Groeneveld from Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands). Participation in the Research Leaders Forum enabled a deeper understanding of new approaches to developing academic partnerships and innovative educational practices.
During the mobility program, the lecturers also attended a guest lecture by Francesca Macchiavello from Andrés Bello University (Chile) and a lecture on Latvian language and culture delivered by Professor Baiba Pavule Malnacha from Vidzeme University.
The program strengthened partnerships with Latvian colleagues, facilitated discussions of joint scientific initiatives, and expanded the network of contacts with academic communities from Georgia, Moldova, Latvia, Albania, and other countries. In addition to their professional activities, Poltava Polytechnic representatives presented the cultural heritage of the Poltava region, introduced participants to the region's tourism potential, and promoted Ukrainian culture among foreign colleagues.
















Participation in the mobility program was an essential step in developing Poltava Polytechnic's international cooperation, strengthening the university's integration into the European educational space, and opening new opportunities for future joint projects and scientific and educational initiatives.
National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” actively develops international cooperation with Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), which has already laid the groundwork for several successful academic mobilities. Specifically, within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA171 program, Poltava Polytechnic researchers Olha Harkava and Lyudmyla Shevchenko presented their scientific work on frame structural systems of buildings and the landscape and spatial organisation of the city of Poltava at the event “ViA's Research Evening 2024”. In addition, university lecturers and students participated in the “WOOD TECHNOLOGY HACKATHON”, where, together with international teams, they developed innovative projects, gaining valuable experience and new contacts. Such fruitful interaction contributes to strengthening institutional partnerships, exchanging advanced expertise in higher education, and integrating Poltava Polytechnic into the European scientific and educational space.
As a reminder, faculty members of Poltava Polytechnic are eligible to participate in academic mobility and internship programs. Students can study abroad through Erasmus+ credit academic mobility grant programs for a semester or a full academic year at leading universities in Austria, Greenland, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
