Students of the “Management” and “Logistics” educational programs of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” demonstrated a high level of professional training by completing the large-scale international Global Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project with the support of the HEROES university alliance.

This global initiative brings together over 120,000 students from European Union universities – ranging from entry-level specialists to PhD candidates – to unlock their potential in advancing business and societal resilience. The project has become a powerful platform for developing innovative solutions that strengthen European regions, as well as preparing future professionals for effective work amid dynamic global change.

For four months, from September 2025 to January 2026, our students worked in close collaboration with the university’s partners: Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution (VIKO, Lithuania), Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic), Universum International College (Kosovo), and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (Finland). The learning process included joint lectures, interactive sessions, and cross-cultural meetings under the guidance of a leading European expert, Dr Nikolaj Ambrusevič, Head of the International Business Department at VIKO.

The practical part of the project focused on developing innovations for UAB “Maxima LT”, which represents the largest retail network in the Baltic region. Students of the Department of Management and Logistics, including Oleksandra Adamova, Valeriia Dovhal, Anna Ivashchenko, Mariia Strochko, Maryna Herasymenko, Vladyslav Petrusevych, and Dmytro Yakymov, worked as members of multinational teams. Each group solved real business cases: from developing the “Well Done” private label and the “Barbora” e-shop to improving the “Aciu” loyalty program and optimising logistics processes by creating a new centre in Vilnius.

The success of the project was due to the students’ hard work and the professional guidance of mentors from Poltava Polytechnic. Consultative support was provided by Associate Professors of the Department of Management and Logistics, Alina Kudinova (project manager from the university) and Alla Hliebova, Professor Viktoriia Kulyk, as well as the university’s international activities coordinator Anna Pavelieva. The final stage was an online defence of the projects in a pitch format before representatives of “Maxima LT” and an international community of lecturers. Following the successful defence, the students received international certificates for 5 ECTS credits (150 hours), confirming their ability to generate ideas that contribute to the prosperity of modern business on a global level.

Poltava Polytechnic has been closely and successfully cooperating with the project coordinator – Vilniaus Kolegija | Higher Education Institution (VIKO, Lithuania) for three years. Annually, our students participate in credit academic mobility programs at this institution – specifically, in the 2024/2025 academic year, student Anna Haivoronska studied there, and in the 2023/2024 academic year, master’s philology student Yana Kharchenko and three students from the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management, and Law – Veronika Lytvynenko, Sofiia Yermolenko, and Viktoriia Khrypko – participated. In spring 2024, Associate Professors Kseniia Verhal and Alina Chaikina took part in the Erasmus+ academic mobility program for teachers at Vilniaus Kolegija.

As a reminder, faculty members of Poltava Polytechnic are eligible to participate in academic mobility and internship programs. Students can study abroad through Erasmus+ credit academic mobility grant programs for a semester or a full academic year at leading universities in Austria, Greenland, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
